Where can you get a covid test for indoor dining close to Aulani? We are staying more than 8 days and will have to eat somewhere, so where can the non-vaccinated part of my group (over the age of 11) get tested near Aulani? Is there a AFC Urgent care nearby?

I am assuming that they are very strict with the proof of a negative test within the last 48 hours for indoor dining.

I’m not sure if there are any sites really close to Aulani. Maybe the locals on this board can give you a better idea or someone who has gotten tested while at Aulani. Here’s a link that may help get you started. Here’s another link that has a test finder option if you scroll down the page. When I was there last month, there was testing at the Honolulu airport, but the lines were unreal. There was another testing site in Waikiki that I passed while on a bike tour that our guide said was always empty. Unfortunately, I don’t remember where it was.

Yes, restaurants will require proof of vaccination or negative Covid test before they even let you in the door. Don’t forget that the ABC Store across the street has prepared foods that you can purchase if you aren’t able to work out the testing.

There was an Urgent Care across the road in Ko Olina Station that serviced all of the resorts but we walked by last week and there is a sign on the door that it is temporarily closed and referring people to the Kapolei location.

They are strict. We went to MonkeyPod the other night and the hostess even questioned the validity of my wives vaccine card. We got it figured out though.

I'm not sure, but I will say that when we were in an Uber on our way to surf lessons, we saw a VERY long line of cars (100 cars?) that caused some good traffic and our Uber driver said is was a covid testing site and that tests are very hard to get right now. This was during the week between Christmas and New Year, so maybe there are new sites?

Your best bet is to bring your own tests from home because they are sold out all over Oahu. When they do come in, they sell out quickly.

Or, book appointments at CVS in Kapolei well ahead of your trip. Make sure you book the rapid results test.

If you go to a testing site (locations change frequently), ask how quickly you’ll receive your test results. Labs are really backed up and it may take more than 48 hours.

I’m curious, if you do an at home at test how do you present your results?
I thought we were going to be good since we all have our two shots (adults anyway). Now that we need the booster to be concerned fully vaccinated DH isn’t covered. I’m starting to get stressed at the idea of going to Oahu with him not having his booster and I can’t convince him to get it.
If I wouldn’t lose so much $$ I would just cancel and go to WDW. Unfortunately, we had to rent half the points we needed to stay there and no way we’d get that money back.
Im really torn between just go and let him sit in the room while the kids and I go out to breakfast and dinner (ok with only doing a handful of table service anyway) or cancelling and losing the money.

At the moment, Maui requires boosters but Oahu does not. My opinion is that it's only a matter of time before Oahu also requires boosters. As far as I know, Maui considers you boosted the day you get your third shot, there is no waiting period. Oahu would likely follow suit as long as the CDC doesn't change its definition of fully vaccinated.

For the home test, I would recommend you take a pic that clearly shows his face, the negative test result, his ID, and something that shows the date, i.e. a newspaper. And I cannot stress this enough - bring tests from home. Oahu is wiped out and has been for weeks.

Keep an eye updates to the Safe Travels program. It seems likely that the program will be changing and your husband would need to test negative to skip quarantine: https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2022/...afe-travels-program-booster-soon-be-required/

Go to OneOahu.org to clarify any questions :)
It’s a great resource. The only problem with the website is that it lists the minimum requirements, not the actual requirements. There are many places that have stricter requirements than those listed. For example, before tests were in short supply, some restaurants would require you to test on the spot before entering. Our kids’ gym requires a hard copy of the home test receipt. The best thing to do is to call each business to learn their exact requirements.

There is a home test, bi nax, that you can buy on the emed site that you take on your phone in front of a telehealth person. The results are monitored by them and then they send you official results via email and through a Navica app. So at the end there is even a bar code. We took these before a celebrity cruise Before Christmas. Amazingly easy to use. It takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. Not cheap, about $70 for 3 but I bought extras to keep at home. You can use the test without the telehealth person but then you don’t get official results.
As for your husband, if he chooses not to get a booster for some reason, my attitude would be…enjoy your frozen pizza, I’m going out. And if Hawaii requires a booster and he still says no, you may have to go without him or risk losing lots of money.

Federal government will be rolling out free BiNaxNOW covid test kits this week starting 01/19/11 (4 per household) which might help those traveling. There's been a huge shortage where we live (as well as around the country) so I hope to be able to secure them for us. This might help those traveling who can't find any in their area.

Worth noting that under Oahu guidelines, restaurants are authorized to decline any at-home test for any reason.
