I've done a search and from what I can tell, covered fire pits are allowed at the fort. Would something like this be considered a "covered firepit"?

We have a similar one and my husband was thinking of bringing it along, but I wasn't sure if this is the type that is permitted. The cover is like a heavy duty screen.
We are leaving in about 7 hours!!!

We have one similar and will be using it as a grill but also as a night time fire pit...if allowed.

I think that type would be O.K. and I'd bring it and see what happens.

We have used one just like that and had no problems. They do put a total ban on firepits in the dry season but that is late winter - early spring. Just be sure to keep the top on and keep an eye on any little ones. They are like a moth to a ....

When we went they told use that they want the firepit to be solid on the top they did not want the mesh. Holly you might want to call before you purchase one.

Oh, we aren't buying one, we already have one. I think we will leave it at home this time just to be on the safe side. We are leaving as soon as my husband gets home from the miserable UGA vs LSU game.

When you say solid tops, do you mean like the chiminias? We have a small one and would like to bring it, but not sure if we should waste the space to be told not to use it.

I know I am the worst at decribing something but this is what I was told.

I got one earlier this year at KMart I think it was $39.99. The great think about these is you can use them as a charcoal grill as well.

We have that exact one. Before we used it we called a manager from to FT. over to see if it was ok. He told us yes. Since then every time we use it the one guy that works there always hassles us about it. We then called management again and was told it was ok. Well about the 3rd time it happened we called and asked for the managers card I keep it in the MH and if we are hassled again I will call him. I am not sure what his name is and I hope he is still there, because we plan to us it when we are there in 10 days

Yes, it is quite sturdy, but light. It packs away into a nice case to keep everything clean and kept away.
