Cover for stroller when it rains?

What do you do with your baby when it's raining at the parks. We all have our ponchos but obviously they don't fit a baby! Our stroller is pretty padded and I wouldn't want it to absorb all the rain, so I was trying to come up with some way you could cover the baby in the stroller? Does anyone have some suggestions?

We went in Jan. with our 18 month old and we bought a stroller cover before the trip. I had seen it at onestepahead.com (however was just there and didn't see it now). I was going to order it before the trip but got lucky and found one in our local resale shop. I only paid $6 for the used one and we ended up never having to use it. (which is good i suppose)

I know we we will be at WDW many times before our son is out of his stroller so i will drag it along each time. It looks like a big clear plastic rain coat. And fits right over it perfectly. You might try babiesrus.com. Or just check various baby web sites in the stroller acc. section.

Alot of people just put an extra poncho over the stroller but i did think this was worth it to keep the baby and stroller dry.

Check out your local Toys R Us store. They usually have them that are designed to fit over the strollers. If not, check Babies R Us or their website. They used to be about $10 and I saw just this past May.

Well Mirlow, it's clear to me that there are places on earth that receive a lot less rain and snow than we do here in Toronto. Probably everyone I know here who owns a stroller owns a stroller cover for it, too! They're available in umbrella stroller models, regular single stroller, side by side double, front and back double - something for everybody. We can get them at Toys 'r Us or at baby specialty shops. I've also gone the poncho-over-the-stroller route, but I don't think there's anything that beats the special covers since you still have a clear view of what the baby is doing, and they don't blow off since they snap in place around the handles.

We were totally unprepared in AK when it started to rain. We actually just bought two ponchos at a gift shop. They were big enough that one draped over the stoller and the other we used to line the seat (which got wet while we were watched Tarzan Rocks). This worked great, the ponchos were only about $5 each, and they folded up and fit in the basket of the stroller when it stopped raining.

We just got back from WDW and it rained almost every day. We saw strollers with the clear covers made for strollers; those were very nice. As someone mentioned, you can see the child and they can see out. We also saw people using ponchos. You could see that some of the kids didn't like that since they were kicking them off. I even saw someone with a dry cleaning bag. That would be OK as long as the child is out, although it's pretty light weight and would blow off. You can't use dry cleaning bags if the child is in the stroller though since it's a suffocation hazard.

We leave for WDW in 12 days and have delt with wet strollers in the past. This year I bought a clear shower liner to cover the stroller. It cost $2.00 at a discount store and our DS(4yrs) can see out of it and also keep dry. The last time we were there our stroller got the wetest when it sat outside while we were in an attraction. I think this will do the trick.

I went to Toy R Us last night and they didn't have this cover. I'm going to check out the Right Start tomorrow. Amazon.com has it but it would get here after we leave . We only have 5 more days to go!!!!!

... make sure that it's one of the stores with a baby section (aka Baby Depot). Their prices for these are VERY good, and they tend to have the largest selection of rain covers I've found in US brick and mortar stores. Be sure to bring your stroller with you to size the cover, though, BCF does not give refunds on returns, only store credit. I've seen double covers there for under $10. They also have a website: www.bcfdirect.com

The shower curtain liner trick works very well, just be sure to take a few chip clips or clothespins to secure it so it won't blow off.

For our Canadian and UK friends who are wondering why we are having trouble finding these ... few Americans take strollers out in the rain when at home, so most stores here don't sell the fitted frame covers, & the mfrs. don't offer that type for US brands for the most part. I love them, though; they are really great!

I second the clear shower curtain (not the frosted clear-try to find crystal clear). We used this on our single and double strollers. If you have a single, you can drape it over and trim for a good fit. I bought big binder clips and used them to clamp it in various spots so the wind wouldn't blow it off. We tried clothes pins but they really aren't strong enough- if your child tugs on the curtain they just pop right off. I have definitely seen the single rain cover made by Graco at Babies r us.
