Cousins take on the World - Day 3 12/7 - The day the cousins met the man of their dreams

Cast of Characters:

Laura (me) - age 34 (sister to Am and and cousin to Annmarie)
Annmarie - age 32 (cousin to Laura and Am)
Annmarie - age 38 (sister to Laura and cousin to Annmarie - to avoid confusion will be called Am)

Monday morning began much like Sunday morning - 6:45 wake up call and breakfast at Boma. After breakfast we stopped back to the room to get Annmarie's jacket. On the way, we checked out one of the public viewing areas. There were a ton of animals, and an animal expert to answer any questions. Back at the room, we received a voice-message from Am. She claimed to have tried to call us "a ton" of times. Funny, but Annmarie and I both received calls on our cell phones from other people??!! Oh well, we left her a message and told her to plan on arriving in Orlando at about 4:30 on Tuesday, and we'd meet up at the Wilderness Lodge.

We grabbed the bus to MGM (only had to wait about 5 minutes). Once at MGM we grabbed FP's for Tower of Terror. The standby line was only "13" minutes, so we decided to wait. Annmarie and I noticed that it was pretty quiet (no screaming) and sure enough, they announced that they were experiencing technical difficulties. Oh well, we'd come back with our FP's later on. We went over to Rock 'N Roller Coaster. It was a walk-on. Annmarie hates this ride and will only go on once per trip. It was great!!

Star ***** was next. The posted wait-time was 10 minutes, but it was actually closer to 20. It was a lot of fun. We walked over to Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play It, but there was about a 30 minute wait until the next show. We heard some screams coming over from TOT, so we knew it was operational again. We rode it twice - two different sequences, but nothing extraordinary - Saturday's rides were much more thrilling.

Annmarie did some shopping for Nicole outside of Playhouse Disney and then we went over to One Man's Dream. It was absolutely amazing. When we were being seated for the film at the end, the cast member totally went off on Michael Eisner. It was very interesting to hear an employee voice such distain and contempt for his "boss". Good for him :) Annmarie and I were both crying by the end of the film.

We then left MGM and hopped the boat to Epcot. On the way, Annmarie gave her own Michael Eisner rant :) We were running late for lunch and made it to Chef's de France huffing and puffing. Lunch was delicious. While we were eating, the French Santa Claus walked by - it was cool. After lunch, we decided to find out where Beast was. Annmarie and I both have a huge crush on Beast, and one of our goal of this trip was to have our picture taken with him. We asked and sure enough - he was expected in the courtyard in 10 minutes. There were some children with autograph books mulling about, but Annmarie and I staked out the gate in the courtyard. Sure enough, ten minutes later he came out. Annmarie and I acted like idiots with Beast, and we got our pictures taken. You would have thought that we'd just met the man of our dreams. We were walking around all giddy and blushing because of our encounter with Beast. That Belle is one lucky girl!!

Once we cooled down from our Beast moment, we decided to get some dessert. Annmarie had been hoping to try a beavertail, so we headed off to Canada. On the way, we stopped in England and listened to the British Invasion play. They were great. Once in Canada, we were disappointed to find the beavertail stand closed. We backtracked and wound up eating pastries in France - yummy!!

We worked our way around World Showcase stopping in every country. I kicked myself for having French pastries when I realized that I could have gotten tiramisu in Italy. Oh well, next time. While in Norway we rode the Maelstrom and finally found the hidden Mickey in the Viking mural. After finishing up World Showcase, we made our way to the busses and back to the AKL.

When we got to our room, it was amazing. There were so many animals in our savannah - it was unbelievable. At the same time, it was very sad knowing that we'd have to pack up tonight and leave for the Wilderness Lodge. After a quick rest, we were on the bus back to Epcot for our dinner PS's at Beirgarten. We walked over to Germany and checked in. We only had to wait about 5 minutes. During that 5 minutes, we ran into a cast member from Boma. (Since we'd been there three times in three days) he remembered us. It was odd to see him out of costume.

We were seated with some very nice people at our communal table. They included a couple from Canada and a couple from Virginia. We were also seated with a man traveling alone. He did not participate in any of our conversations (although we tried very much to get him to join in.) He seemed content to listen to us and drink his giant beer. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that he did not utter a SINGLE word the entire night - very strange. Even stranger was when he paid his bill, he stood up and shouted "STRUDEL WAS THE BEST" to the couple from Virginia discussing desserts and ran off into the night. Very odd!!

After we left Germany, we headed over to the American Pavilion and watched part of the Candlelight Processional. It was amazing. We thought we had gotten our second wind and were going to go to Downtown Disney, but decided to go back to the room and pack.

Overall thoughts -

How insane is it that two grown women act like idiots around a person in a Beast costume??
The Candlelight Processional was great - I'm sorry that we didn't plan to see it in its entirety. That is a must-do if we ever come back over the holidays.

Stay tuned for the next installment - Will the Wilderness Lodge be as amazing as the AKL, will we ever meet up with Am, we will go an entire day without meeting some sort of freak????

I cry every time I see the movie in One Man's Dream too - a good day for all - thanks for posting!

I'm laughing just thinking about the wacko people you two keep meeting. Reminds me of how my Dad always said my Mom attracts weirdos (hey, what does that say about Dad???). She always had a story to tell about the strange people who came up to her.

But "Mom, we're coming up to Heaven to you", the girl talking to her pins, and the strudel comment were all too funny!

Thanks!
