I'm a former Marriott employee, having worked security and front desk. My other experience is as contract security to a large hotel management firm. All of these experiences have one thing in common, items break and humans make mistakes. We have stayed at this property and everything was fine. 13 years ago, we were on our honeymoon and had our worst stay ever. We were at the Poly in Sept. and learned never to travel immediately after a busy season. We were put in 5 different rooms in our first hour. One room was "busy" with the shower running and 2 employee uniforms tossed on the bed, another had no bedding, another no interior doors. The best room had about 100 dead bugs in the bathroom and Mousekeeping asked if we could wait until the next day for them to clean. While it's true, you do get what you pay for, we have never been back to the Poly. Hotels do the best to honor requests, but cannot always succeed. Some of the issues posted are very disturbing, however some patience and a few kind words will normally fix the problem. In reference to the crib issue, as a father of 3, the best purchase ever made was a port-a-crib. We always knew where it had been and knew that it was clean. If you want to pay hundreds more for a room that you are only sleeping in, go ahead. Remeber, every hotel has good days and bad days, as do we all.
