can you all tell me about it, don't know anything about this one? Is it ok for kids, does it have the bus transportation, etc.

Thanks:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi

We stayed at the Courtyard in 2000 & have booked again for 2004!

At the time our children were 4 & 7 and I can't recommend it enough. The rooms was a good size & clean with plenty of storage space.

The pools although not big weren't a big problem for us because we don't spend much time there - but they were heated and did the job well enough.

The Courtyard Cafe & Grill - have breakfast there - the staff are lovely and friendly. My son wanted Frosties on the first morning but there weren't any out - I wouldn't normally have asked for any but a member of staff overheard and went off to find some and then kept some behind the counter to give to him every morning! He was thrilled as you can imagine.

We sayed at the Grosvenor last year - paid slightly more thinking 'you get what you pay for' - and it's enough to say that we haven't chosen it again for next year! The room was very tired looking, not too clean, things went missing from the room and one of the pools was roped off!

Someone's posted some photos of Courtyard a few threads up - sorry can't remember who!

All that rambling forgot about the busses! The buses ran every ½ hour from what I can remember and were the first pick-up going to the parks and first drop-off coming back. So that's a bonus with tired little ones!

Anything else I can help with - let me know!

Ang,

Thank you for the Courtyard review. We will be staying there in September. Your review answered several of my questions.

I was wondering how long a walk it would be from the hotel to downtown disney. Is it an easy walk or should I just wait for a bus.

Also, I was thinking of staying in an all-star resort, but the courtyard seems to have pretty much all the perk of the all-star but at a cheaper price. Am I right with this?

It was about a 10 min walk to Downtown D's Marketplace and although the other side - West Side? - may seem like a lot further it's amazing how quickly you do wander over to it when you're out in the evening!

If you fancy a longer walk in the evening there's always Crossroads which is about a 20 minute walk. We walked there from the Grovesnor last year - ideal for when you want to go somewhere different to eat that's not Disney and there's a mini golf at the far end. We never have a car for our time at Disney and find the buses fine and the places we want to get to easy to manage on foot.

Can't compare it with the all stars as we've never been but having read other threads here it sounds like the rooms are a lot smaller at AS and i don't like to pick hotels that are SO big - just a personal preference. I suppose an advantage would be that if you want to go back to your room during the day and then back to a park, the buses are more frequent but that's never been an issue for us because we get to the parks first thing in the morning and leave at closing :)

I've stayed at Courtyard at Marriott and 2 of the all-stars. Allstars was fun - I liked the food court. Pools are bigger! Transportation is probably better at all-stars (if I had young kids I'd probably go with All-stars). We can afford to go more often if we keep the lodging as cheap as possible. That's why we're taking advantage of the Marriott's $20.03 rate. We're still on Disney property and within walking distance from DTD. The rooms are larger and they do have their own transportation. If I were staying for an extended vacation I might think differently but for short 3-4 day Marriott works great.
