Here's what I've been working on for my Unity Candle. I should thank a few of you for the ideas (especially Jenny)...Thank you!!! I put a couple ideas together and came up with this:

ya know if you really want to tone her down a bit...the only way to do it is......gulp....sit down & talk to her one on one yourself.
Maybe take her out to lunch and bring it up casually and let her know.
I think if you present it right, she wont get offended, kinda butter her up, compliment her and sneak it in somehow
maybe she'll take it better than you think...maybe she'll respect that you were honest with her & went right to her...you never know

thanks for the advice DF & I have actually already sat her down to talk to her. Obviously she still didn't listen to us b/c the next day she was talking my mom's ear off at a party they were at. But...maybe like you said...I need to talk to her one on one. Right now my mom is keeping her busy by planning the shower. We decided to have a bridal shower instead of a couples shower so that DF didn't have to be involved and didn't have to deal with his mom. His mom erks me and upsets me...but I can deal with it a lot better then he can. If she keeps being a pain I'm just going to tell her thank you but we're going to handle the at-home party ourselves...I just don't want her ruining my whole experience. I'm hoping that won't have to happen...some of the time she means well...but she just doesn't understand how we feel and what we want. I'll keep you updated...let's hope everything goes smoothly from here.

We were assigned our Event Planner...Carol Michaels. Has anyone had her? Any thoughts/opinions?

We also set up a planning session in June. I'm super excited about this. I booked our flight today. We're going to be down there just a short time. Leave early thursday and return late saturday. We're hoping to get some pool time and shopping time (well I am atleast) during our stay. We still have that long list of questions to fill out Boy do they ask you questions!

I contacted Rev Jack Day and he's sending us the "Jack Pack". I contacted Beaute Speciale (requested Ana) and they have us penciled in. Hmmm what else....I have an idea of how I want the table to be set up for the reception. I bought some fabric and I'm going to buy the rest of the stuff soon so that I can test it here to see if I like it. I'm hoping to do a lot of DIY stuff to cut down on cost...we'll see. I'll post pics of my ideas once I get all the materials.

My sis and I tried on her dress last night. Unfortunately I did not have a camera plus we were kind of in a rush b/c she had her lil baby girl with her. Which reminds me does anybody have any suggestions on where to get a flower girl/dressy dress for a 1 year old? My colors are black and white so I want something pretty simple. ForKeeps...actually your first response gave me a little light at the end of the tunnel. Its good to hear that eventually it could work out and she could understand our feelings more. I appreciate the thoughts

Aww thanks! Everyone keeps making compliments about the tiaras...the sad thing is that tiara was way too big for her! I asked if they had it in a diff size. The tiara itself is not too big...but the prongy things and metal thing doesn't fit on her head that great. If she had her hair up the tiara prongs would be showing b/c they are too large. I'm hoping I can find something just like it....or possibly get creative and try to make the large tiara fit her head???lol. I dunno.

It's been awhile since I posted. I've kind of been slacking

My dress came in! That's the most exciting news! I picked it up yesterday (and my daughters), as well as ordered my sisters dress.

We confirmed Rev Jack Day for our wedding. I'm going to call him next week to talk about involving the child in the ceremony. I read posts about Family Medallion Ceremonies...which I'm interested in hearing more about. Rev Day seemed very willing to talk about different ideas he has about involving the child so I'm excited to talk to him.

My flowers came in! That's super exciting too. And pretty funny...well b/c I put together a trial run of a bouquet last night and my DF says is looks like a planet! Like Saturn....lol. He's a goof. I'm trying to go for the fresh cut look...no baby's breath or greenery. He says the red needs to be broken up a bit. So I'm going to look into making hidden mickeys to put in it. I really like how PrincessDisneyBelle did her hidden mickeys...I'm still searching for something like that. I'm going to work on it more this weekend and post pics to get some advice.

Last night DF and I FINALLY had some time to go over some wedding stuff. We looked over the various cakes. It was pretty funny b/c both of us have different ideas of what we want. Not totally different ideas....but let's just say we didn't find the exact one we wanted. I have this idea to create my own monogram cake topper. When I told DF he pretty much rolled on the floor laughing. I think it's going to turn out really good....but I think he thinks its going to look like some redneck job. But seriously...I have high confidence in my dad. He's going to take the S I made for my unity candle monogram....and cut it out of plexi glass. Then I'm going to take swarvoski crystals and glue them on it. You can buy them plenty of places....but I thought why not try to make my own..especially if it can look exactly like my monogram and have the mickey head on it! Let's hope!

Let's see...what else did my DF make fun of last night (he was on a roll!)? I think he's scared that all my DIY projects are going to turn out real hand-made looking. But I have lots of confidence in myself. And if they turn out crappy then I won't use them. Oh...we were watching the STVS sample video and in one of the weddings the bridesmaids were wearing black. He goes..."Why the heck would anyone put their bridesmaids in black?". I look at him with a wierd look and go...ummmm my sister is wearing black! I mean how did he not know what colors we were using? I told him a zillion time black and white. We both just bursted out laughing. These are the moments we will remember for a lifetime! If I remember anything about our planning...it will be the red planets...the black bridesmaid dress...and the home-made cake topper....

Ok...so what do you think? I had only red roses but my df said it looked like a red planet! So I added white stephonotis (sp?) and I think I like it better this way. Plus I was able to get some hidden mickeys in there on the stephonotis!

Your flowers look beautiful! The red roses are so elegant and the hidden mickeys are a nice touch.

Thanks They are actually velvet red roses. I got them from Hobby Lobby's online store.

I'm so glad that I'm getting positive feedback...I was a bit concerned. My friend and my sis think the white may be too much. So I'm still debating if I should have just all red roses. I can't decide if the white is too much of a contrast...and if they look fake. BUT I do know that they are an awesome way to add hidden mickeys

Just wanted to check in and give some more updates. I have been really slacking on writing entries to this journal and my journal book. I think its because I feel worn out (yes already) from the wedding stuff. And....I know the reason why...FMIL. I'm not going to say any more then that...just talking about it stresses me out.

So let's see. We booked Rev Jack Day. I need to call him to talk about family ceremonies. I really want my daughter to be a part of the ceremony. We booked STVS Videos. Originally we weren't going to have a videographer but his parents offered to pay for it. Now that I think about it, I am very happy that we decided to get one...more ways to capture memories! My sis (MOH) bought her dress. I don't have any pics of her in it yet. When she gets it...I'll take a pic. She's freaking out a bit about the color black. But I think she'll be beautiful in it...especially with a tan. My dad is going to try to make my monogram cake topper. I would just buy a 'S' with swarvoski crystals...but I like how my 'S' is in my unity candle design...with the mickey head. So he's going to TRY to make it for me My dad also is helping me with my flowers. He's good at that stuff. The other day we made hidden mickeys to put in the flowers. I'll post a pic soon of my updated flowers with the hidden mickeys...and I'll explain how I made them then.

My daughter came up with a very sweet and cute idea. I'm not sure how we will do it, but she wants to sing a song at the reception. We were driving in the car one day and she just said "Mommy can I sing this song at your wedding?". How could I say no? So she's choosing between High School Musicals "Start of something New" or "Breaking Free". She has ALOT of work to do....but it's a very sweet idea and I'm hoping we can pull it off.

I have ideas for out of town bags, invitations, and programs. I'm most likely ordering the paper for my invites and programs from http://www.mountaincow.com . I like the pocket folds they have. I figure I'll start working on those sometime in June or July.

my fiance has two daughters who we are incorporating into the wedding. They are both so excited though we have not yet told them WHERE it is going to be. I am afraid for our sanity to tell them now! haha! It is really awesome that your daughter is so accepting and wants to do something sweet for you like sing. High School Musical would be a good tie-in!

Love reading all your planning info. Your flowers are beautiful. I can't believe they are not real. I also love the way you and your daughter have matching gowns. Everything sounds like it's working our great.
