Coupon question

Do stores actually double coupons that say do not double on them? I thought they wouldn't but it seems that they must on the TV Show.

It depends on a few things: T

The coupon bar code may automatically not allow it to double.

If the bar code doesn't prevent it, the cashier might.

The bar code might not prevent it and the cashier might not notice it.

I've had all 3 scenarios happen to me.

I also don't get why a manufacturer would make a coupon a "do not double" coupon since the store is eating up the "double" and not the manufacturer.

There is some trick with the bar code numbers.....if it starts with a 5 it won't double but if it starts with a 9 it will......or maybe it is the opposite.....it has been a while since i couponed.

Right. A bar code starting with a 5 will usually double, so the computer system may double it even if it is printed with Do Not Double on it. A bar code starting with a 9 will not double.
