..I don't get the hype with this.

Is it supposed to be romantic. If so, how can it be with others in the room?

We've had them. It's not romantic but you don't have to wait for each other since you have the same appointment time!:cutie:

The romance part of a couple's massage comes after the massage is over, when you're both feeling relaxed and happy. ;)

it is about sharing the experience together ;)

but for me, when my DH falls asleep and SNORES, it isn't romantic for me.

DH and I did it on our anniversary. I got a really good-looking, well-built great male massage therapist. He got a lotion wearing 50-yo troll woman.

No lie. She had her lotion on her belt.

DH and I used to get them all the time before I got pregnant with DS. They are SO relaxing. We would hold hands when we could during the massage.

DH always has bad knots in his shoulders and when his massage therapist would work on one of his knots he would scream out and I would giggle. That part wasn't really romantic but we still joke about that today. :rotfl: I know where those knots are and if I push on one he shrieks. I always tell him he better behave because I can drop him to his knees with one touch. :thumbsup2

We got one as a treat before deployment. I love massages, and I enjoyed it much more than DH...he just couldn't relax for some reason. I think if we did it again he'd relax more having gone through the experience once though.

In theory, I can see how it might be romantic. But in reality, it would be pure torture for me - I can't imagine having someone I don't know touching me like that. I don't even like it when the do the hand and arm massage during a manicure.

I'm not sure that I'd like a couple's massage. I don't mind DH getting massages, but if his therapist turned out to be some hot 20-something woman, I don't think I'd particularly enjoy laying right next to them as she's rubbing him down. Especially if he seemed to be really enjoying it! LOL

I'd rather get massages separately. That way I could at least keep the illusion that his therapist was a troll. ;)

Wow..I thought I was the only one who had no interest in a massage from a stranger, for the exact reasons you mentioned... I could never imagine letting a stranger massage my back:confused3 I am no prude LOL...but I feel funny having people I don't know touch me.

I love when my husband massages my back, and I even like when my kids do it(Or try to too) but have no interest in any professional massage. I know people rave about them. I would be so uncomfortable with the whole thing.

Ohhhh....DH & I had a couple's massage on our Disney Cruise. It was at Castaway Cay!!! HEAVENLY!!! On the beach in the cabana's!!! The massage therapists are the BEST!!!

If you have never had one you cannot possibly say it is not your thing....FIRST have a couple's massage and wait and see just how absolutely fabulous it is. :goodvibes

We have since had them at Mohegan Sun in their Spa!!! AMAZING!!! :goodvibes

Oh and for those that have never had a massage...they are PRICEY but worth every cent!!! ::yes::

My boyfriend and I were wanting to do this. I hear you lie close to one another and relax together. Sounds nice to me :D

Well speaking as a massage therapist I'm really glad more people don't feel that way! :lmao:

But seriously, you're not alone. Though I do think you're in the minority, I've run across a few like you!

It's really not so much romantic as just sharing an experience. Although I do a little class kind of thing where I massage a husband or wife, while showing the spouse how to do it. They seem to really like that.

I kind of figured I was in the minority;) ...The whole idea of being almost naked under a sheet or robe or whatever, and then having some stranger you don't know touch you and massage you..well its just odd to me. My husband has had a massage or two before we were married.I do love it when he massages my back, but heck I know him;)

I will admit I do love when my hair is washed in a beauty shop, and they massage my scalp:thumbsup2 , but hey Im sitting there fully clothed;)

My DH and I just did the Couple Massage on Castaway Cay for our honeymoon and it was so wonderful. It was romantic, but like another poster said, it was being so relaxed together that made it so romantic.

Yes, we had 2 hot little 20-somethings doing the massages but it didn't bother me at all. It was so nice to just hang out on the floats in the water after the massage and just do nothing together!

My mom is the total opposite of me though and can't stand having a massage or pedicures or anything like that. I am glad I didn't pick up that trait from her - going to the spa is one of my all-time favorite things in the world and getting to share that with my DH just makes it that much better! :goodvibes

Sorry. The whole thing just seems creepy to me. Where I come from, a couple's massage is where the couple massages each other. I don't like strangers touching me, and I sure as heck don't like someone else touching my wife.

I LOVE massages and I get them as often as I can.

DH, on the other hand, would hate it. He's never tried, but just the thought freaks him out.

I have no idea how he'd react to a couples massage, except I wouldn't enjoy it waiting for him to complain once the technicians left.

SO, more for me alone!
