Couple transfer questions

I ordered Amy's transfers for our upcoming trip (the shirts we did last time with cheap transfers are all cracked and peeling!). I have a couple questions. Do all of you do anything special when you wash the shirts (after they have the transfers on)? Do you turn them inside out? Do you put them on a special setting in either the washer or dryer? I ask because I know that when my husband does laundry, everything gets thrown together.

Another question. I pre-washed my shirts. I have a Bounce dryer bar. For the first batch, I remembered to take the dryer bar out when I dried them. For the 2nd batch, I forgot  How bad is this? What does it do to the process of applying the transfers? Are the shirts a waste now?

:upsidedowThanks!

Well, the ones with the dryer sheet thingy, may not stay at all...I am not sure exactly what happens, but...it's not good. As for what I do with mine after I wear them, I hang them to dry, but only after I wear them serveral times and now I put them in the dryer..still perfect. I used to wash them inside out and now I don't do that either even if they are the new ones....I love Amy's transfers they are the best!

I just wash my transfer shirts with the rest of the laundry. I don't do anything special with them and they still look fantastic! As for your shirts that you accidentally dried with a dryer sheet, wash them again, and then dry them without the dryer sheet before you put on the transfers. They should be fine. :goodvibes

Cool, thanks! I did think about rewashing them, but didn't know if that would do the trick.

Is the reason for prewashing to avoid shrinking after the transfer is on? I have to admit of being guilty of never prewashing when I do embroidery. I have a feeling there is more give to embroidery than an iron on transfer so I guess I'll go wash my tshirts! LOL.

No, the reason you want to prewash is to remove the sizing and starch the manufacturers put in the clothing. This helps the iron on transfer to adhere well.

So Amy, am I out of luck on the shirts that (accidentally) went through the dryer with the Bounce dryer bar in it? :worship:

I would suggest washing them again (this time without fabric softener or dryer sheet) and you should be fine.

I have done a play shirt before for my kids (on a shirt that was old and obviously already used a dryer sheet). Since it was just a play shirt, I took the chance it may not adhere as well and it turned out fine.

But I would wash them again.
