Couple of questions

OK, we are heading down in October....I am wondering a couple of things...We have been alot of times, but we tend to stick to alot of the same restaurants, and I want to branch out a little. Does anyone know what time would be a good time for a dinner reservation for Rose and Crown if we wanted to see Illuminations? Also, when do they usually come out with the dates for MNSSP? I want to book Liberty Tree for that night, and I was going to just do a 4:00 and hope I pick a day when the party will be.

We have eaten at the Rose & Crown many times, hoping for a patio (Illuminations) view. Our success rate is about 35%, which I think is great. If you aren't seated on the patio, your server can lead you to a private area to view Illuminations if your seat is inside. The view is still great, tho you are standing.
Our ADR's have always been at 7:40 PM. We offered to wait, although I understand they may not be allowing that anymore.

We went to Rose & Crown last January and didn't have reservations and we were seated within 15 mins of walking up to the place. (I don't recommend this but it just happened) Everything else was packed that night. We placed our order and the waitress informed us that we could go out on their patio and watch Illuminations and they would hold our food for us during the show. It was kind of chilly that night so no one was out on the patio eating. We were able to grab a spot to sit and when we came back in our food was brought to us instantly. We took our time to eat our meals and when we left we were pretty much the only ones in the park. It was kind of neat, even though things weren't open, the lights were still on and it was like having the place to ourselves. So if you can get a table close to showtime, I'd say go for it.
