just got back from an 11/16--11/22 stay and i thought i would give a couple of reviews of 2 restaurants where we ate:
1. dixie crossroads--the new one in the festival bay mall at the very north end of int'l dr. we knew about this place from our previous visit in 2000 over at the space coast. what a great place for seafood. people often ask on this board about a good lobster buffet--well while it isn't lobster, they serve rock shrimp that tastes very similar to bite size pieces of lobster. they have great corn fritters as an appetizer that are more like dessert, and there other shrimp offerings are excellent. i got a 1dz. boat run shrimp, 2dz. rock shrimp feast for 23.99
2. texas de brazil--right across the street from dixie crossroads. if you are a steak/meat eater, this is your paradise. they really don't have a menu. the meal is 40.00(yeah, i didn't see the price until i got the check), 20.00 for children. you go to a giant salad bar that has number of items that you don't usually see on a salad bar. after your salad if you are ready for meat, you turn over this little paper disc at your table. immediately servers start coming to your table offering 1 serving size portions of an unbelievable variety of meat cuts from these skewers they are carrying. some of the cuts i remember were parmesan chicken, pork tenderloin, bacon wrapped filet, 4 or 5 different types of sirloin steak, flank steak, leg of lamb, lamb chops, pork loin, brazilian sausage--the meat keeps coming until you turn the paper disc back over and eat a while. then if you want more, you can turn the disc back over again. they also bring out garlic mashed potatoes and fried bananas to"cleanse your palate". the meal was very expensive, but it was excellent and you got to sample everything instead of ordering 1 entree. i definitely recommend the place for a special meal. we arrived at 4:30 in the afternoon, so we got in, otherwise, we would have needed reservations

My DH and I have wanted to try Texas de Brazil...sounds like he would love it! Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the reviews. DS is a meat eater big time--- might be a place to try for our upcoming trip.
