Country Inn & Suites vs Marriott Residence Inn

We have booked Country Inn & Suites the night before our October cruise. Looked ok for a one night stay, was close to Hertz, and I've read some decent comments here. Tripadvisor ratings look good overall. Went back to Tripadvisor today - still many good reviews. But one August review, including photos, has me concerned. it indicated less-than-clean conditions in their room, and overly loud AC. I'd hate to start my vacation that way. While I realize we're not staying at a Ritz the night before our cruise, I still want a comfortable and clean place (clean is very important!).

Thinking of switching over to Marriott Residence Inn (which I believe is right next door).

Any thoughts on the switch? Or anyone stay at the Residence Inn recently that can provide some first-hand comments on its condition/cleanliness, etc? I don't mind paying a little extra if it will give me peace of mind of having a good start to the vacation.

Not sure about the length of time or about the Residence Inn, but this is on the Country Inn and Suites site:

ALERT - Hurricane Irma: Due to the recent storm, the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Cape Canaveral, FL is temporarily closed. Please contact Reservations at 1 (800) 456-4000 if you have an existing reservation during this time, as they can assist to find alternate accommodations with Country Inns & Suites.

Starwood Hotel had a similar note. Anyway, October is a ways away, but you might want to check on your reservation.

I just stayed two nights at the Residence Inn. This is where I always stay.

I can answer specific questions on that hotel but have never stayed at Country Inn & suites.

Thanks - I will definitely check into this!

Thank you. Primarily want to confirm that Residence Inn is clean, comfortable, and relatively quiet (for a family hotel the night before a vacation). Breakfast isn't really a concern. The August pictures I saw at the other location would be unacceptable to me and not the way I'd want to start our vacation (corroded sink faucets, shower heads, etc). Any insight or specific reviews/comments you have would be great.

Don't live in fear. I'm sure the Country Inn is fine for 1 night, and you shouldn't base your decision on 1 review. Who knows how legitimate the review is or how hyper-sensitive the reviewer is. Just my 2¢.

I have always found the Residence Inn Clean Comfortable and Quiet. I have stayed at the Radisson once before and did not like it at all - my room was dirty. Once I stayed at the Residence I have not tried something else. I think I have stayed there 10 separate times. The breakfast was okie dokie. Hot and cold items. I know it doesn't matter to you but I thought I would share.

My biggest complaint is that its a Pepsi place. I drink coke.

Thank you for the quick feedback! Sounds like it might be a better fit. I'll be in touch with both hotels within the next week to check on their status post-hurricane. Appreciate the replies.

We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites once as an all-adult family and liked it. Plenty clean, nice breakfast, super friendly and helpful staff. My parents stayed there a couple of times since, and if it wasn't nice they would not have been back.

We've stayed at the CI&S in Port Canaveral and it was more than satisfactory. Usually, we stay in the CI&S in Port Orange (just south of Daytona & an hour from the port). It's less crowded with more to do within walking distance of the hotel. Don't try to book a stay there during the Daytona 500 weekend though...

Stayed at CI&S in Fall 2013 and it was a great stay. In May 2015 stayed at Comfort Inn and Suites- Cocoa Beach to save a few bucks. BAD move. I'm sure it was a great place to stay in the early days of NASA in the 60's. My wife asked "is there a reason why we did not stay at CI&S?" Stayed at CI&S again in May and was a little surprised- the breakfast food and facilities were even better than before but the room showed much more wear and tear and had a slight musty smell. I will gladly stay there again because our Port Canaveral hotel is just for a night's sleep before the cruise and a place to leave our car if we drive, but IMO the place is overdue for a remodel.

Also, thank you for asking about the Mariott because I will check there for our next stay. If CI&S is much cheaper then I will stay there, but if they are the same price I may try Residence Inn just to try a new place.

Stayed at the residence inn on two occasions and both times had great stays.

The rooms aren't completely remodeled but from our first stay(cruise) a few years ago the furniture has been updated to the new residence inn look and materials that you will find at newer properties. Been here with younger kids and grandparents and never had any complaints. The rooms are larger so it helps to get a little more room. Hertz is actually in the residence inn parking lot so technically from comfort you'd have to walk through the grass or around the sidewalk.

FYI This hertz location does get busy so if you can keep the car till the morning of the cruise drop the luggage and family off and then drop the car off. A lot easier getting on the shuttle as the last person without luggage than as a group with bags and all
