I'm thinking of booking one night at Country Inn Calypso Cay. Has anyone stayed there before? If so what's it like? Good Stay/Bad Stay? Any input would be great.

Thanks!

I have been considering this hotel for a 3 night stay myself. I've heard a ton of good reviews about it. The reviews say that the hotel is clean, has a mini golf course, and that the breakfast is decent.

We aren't going until October but I can tell you this hotel is a front runner for our family.

We stayed here in June for four nights before transferring onsite. The hotel was very nice - our room was very clean - breakfast was pretty good (although we only ate breakfast once). My daughter loved the pool area - especially the water slide! My girls also loved the icecream vending machine -they bought an ice cream every night as their snack!

We had the one bedroom suite for $59/night! It was a great deal - and I would highly recommend this hotel!

Magic... how did you get that rate? Was it a special or something?
I have AAA but haven't seen much of a price difference with it for this hotel.

I booked it! I got a Rate of $77 Canadian which is around $69 US. I booked through expedia. They charged my credit card right away and emailed me confirmation. You might want to go right to the hotel chain web site countryinns.com and check on rates. I looked earlier and it was quoted all in US funds and I was worried that my credit card company would charge me extra for the US funds. That is the only reason I booked through the canadian expedia website. I am only staying here for one night then I'm off to POP Century for the rest of the vacation. I just decided that we would drive down a day earlier. I hope that this hotel is as nice as all the reviews I've read.

I don't know anything about the Calypso Cay complex. It appears that there's villas & hotels in this same area. :confused3 Do they share ammenities? Is this hotel nicer than the others in the complex? We're looking for pet friendly accommodations in different areas of Orlando, & these seem to fit the bill. Just for clarification, these are just hotels. There's no timeshare presentation required, right? TIA :)

PandaBear....You got a good rate. I'm getting quoted $89/night US dollars for that hotel.

We are also staying there before our onsite Disney trip. My cousin is getting married and we needed to stay in Kissimmee for a few days for that. The good news is that you are staying there before me. Don't forget to do a review for me on this hotel :thumbsup2

And yes, this is just a hotel...no timeshare.

I got the $59/night rate from an Expedia special. It was not part of a time share.

When you are pulling out of the parking lot, it looks like a time share complex across the street. (It did look nice too)

Enjoy your trip!

The Caylpso Cay area is very nice, we lived there for a year before they changed the apartments to condos. The hotels are all centrally located around the pool. They are really nice.

I am so glad I booked it. Over thinking and comparing all different types of places was getting the better of me. We are going to be there for one night before heading to WDW the last week of September. I will definitely let you know what the place is like when I return.

Thanks for the feedback. :) Do you think the Country Inn is nicer than the Amerisuites @ Calypso Cay? I see that there's also a La Quinta Inn, but it's a 2* hotel. The others are listed as 3*. Just so I'm sure I have it right, do all the hotels share a pool? What ammenities are there at the Country Inn? Thanks again :)

PS: $59 is a great rate! I'm also getting $89 @ Expedia, which is still a very good rate, if the hotel is nice.

With all the researching I've been doing. It seems that the Country Inn & Suites is the nicer hotel of the 3. I did a lot of research about them on trip advisor as well as just plan searches on their own. The 3 hotels do share the pools and the miniature golf course. There is also timeshares there as well. I chose the Country Inn & Suites because it seems to be the one with the best reviews. They have a continental breakfast as well which I've read is one of the better breakfasts. If you go to Countryinns.com you will be able to see everything this hotel offers. Hope this helps.

We also found a rate of $59 a night. It was a TravelZoo special so you might want to keep an eye out there in case they should run it again.

The backside of the three establishments face their shared pool/recreation/lounge area. One establishment is a condo complex, one is Amerisuite and one is Country Inns. There are three pools, two "quite pools" that have little in the way of entertainment for children and then there is the center children's pool. It has a zero entry depth for young children, a very nice spiral slide and various water spouts. It also is surrounded by grill and patio areas that are there for the guest use. During busy times there are often live music perfomances and a drink bar/snackbar.

Country Inns was clean and if you've stayed in the chain before it is fairly typical of their style. The free breakfast is adequate but is basic: cereal, oranges, apples, bananas, toast, frozen waffels, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee. There is only one toaster so the wait for its use can get extreme during busy hours. The attendants at the breakfast do not speak english and do not attempt to communicate or accomadate any requests. If an item runs out they might or might not refill it (if it is within 20 minutes of closing time they won't). By the stated ending time EVERYTHING will be completely put away so get there early if you want to eat.

I will say that upon arrival we had a toilet in which the handle was not working properly and upon notifying the front desk someone was up to fix it within 3 minutes. Other than that everything in our room was in good working order. Nice microwave and fridge, two room suite with a pullout sofa. Our soap was not replenished daily but I'm sure if I had of complained it would have been taken care of.

The free putt-putt course is basic but free. You have to enter the Amerisuites lobby to request balls/putters.

I really like the location of this complex. It is only about 2 blocks from a Wal-Mart and has easy access to several different entries to Disney property. If I were to stay off property again and could find the same rate, I would not hesitate.

here is the website
http://www.calypsocay.com/

there is a timeshare on the property - so you might get asked - just say no.

I am a little mad. of the three properties only the timeshares doesn't allow pets.....(someone did not think this real well)

the County Inn & amerisuites are right there - the LaQuinta is across the street probably further away than Walmart.

lots of people are complainting about Amerisuites - I will tell you when we get back - one good thing about staying someplace else - if this is lousy I don't have to stay there.

I was trying for All Stars with priceline. but this will give me good references for when I travel with a pet again.

Thanks again for the feedback. :) We haven't decided if we'll stay in this area or closer to the city. This sounds like a good choice, if we decide on this area. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
