Country Bears math problem

I know it doesn't make any sense to take time for Country Bears early in the morning, but the only place it fits in my touring plan is on the walk to Haunted Mansion after rope dropping Frontierland.

Touring Plans says that CBJ opens at 10am but won't begin until 10:07. I assume that's an average "load time" that the TP algorithm inserts. I can't imagine, at 10 am, there's enough of a crowd to take 7 minutes to get seated. But maybe I'm wrong? Has anyone ever gone to the first CBJ show of the day? (I'm guessing not because you're all smarter than that!)

So:
If Country Bears opens at 10:00 am,
And I have a Haunted Mansion FP+ that ends at 10:25 am,
Will I make it?
Will I make it without having to run through soupy August heat?
Is this the dumbest question you've ever seen here?

First of all, there's nothing dumb about it. The CBJ is great and a Disney classic and if you wanna see it first thing in the morning, then by all means enjoy!

Now, the show is about 16 minutes long, and it probably won't start right at 10. Considering that there is generally a 15 minute grace period on FastPasses, I think you have the time. CBJ isn't all that far from Haunted Mansion either, so I think you'll be okay.

You have until 10:40am if your FP ends at 10:25am.

I see that the show length is 12 minutes. That puts you at 10:19 for show end. With five minutes for exiting and getting back on the street, I just don't see how that works.

BUT...

I understand there is a grace period (15 mins??) for FastPasses. If that's true (I haven't tested it), it should work.

I haven't been in a few years, but I thought it had been shortened to under 10 minutes?

I actually have to tap in for my HM FP+ before 10:25 because I also have three "anytime" FPs that'll be depleted if I tap into a scheduled FP outside the window. I've been trying to push back my HM FP but there's no times left that work for my plan.

If I have to cross the park again to see my Country Bears, then that's what I'll do!

Yes, it looks like the show is around 12 minutes now (Wikipedia had the 15:55 minute runtime). If you are concerned about the FP window because of your anytime options, then I wouldn't try it. I don't know if the system is smart enough to know to use your FP for HM in the grace period or not, but it seems risky. Saving CBJ for later is probably a good call in that case.

Next question: if my anxiety departs from Frontierland Station at 10:38 am and my OCD leaves Fantasyland Station four minutes later, which will ruin my family's vacation sooner?

Well, Hatbox, I'd recommend that you leave those things at home. I know it's hard. I tend to get into that mode of maximizing my time as well, but it really can hinder enjoyment of the trip. You're at Disney World, and you're going to have fun no matter what, even if things don't go exactly right. If you schedule everything too closely, you'll be sitting there looking at the time thinking, '"come on, come on, hurry up and end so we can get to the next thing." You won't be present, and you won't be enjoying it. Try not to fall into that trap. I understand my words can't make it happen, but just try to keep your mindset in the moment and have fun.

To your CBJ/HM predicament, why not just go ahead to HM, use the FP, then backtrack to CBJ right away? They really aren't too far apart. If your HM ends at 10:25, it starts at 9:25. You can then have them both done in a reasonable time frame.

I think your anxiety will trump your ocd, lol. Therefore just make a trip back to CBJ after haunted mansion and tell yourself you are doing it in hopes of seeing the muppets at liberty square. ;)

Just do CBJ after. You can get distracted so easily. Be prepared for this plan to be diverted throughout the day.

This is why I never plan down to the minute.

Oh absolutely. I'm doing all the fretting now so that I can let Jesus take the wheel when I get there. I even nixed Big Thunder from our touring plan in order to make everything more relaxed!

Ooh, a twofer! And my husband's a big Muppets fan - thanks for the suggestion.

I left so much breathing room throughout the rest of my plan - which is why backtracking for Country Bears bugs me as the one piece out of place. It'll keep me awake for one more night and then I'll let it go.

Another vote to do CBJ after your FP. It could work, but would be cutting it very close, especially if there were any delays.

We missed CBJ this trip because I tried to put too much into our touring plan and I'm still sad. Such a classic attraction! No matter how good your plans are on paper, there will always be things you can't predict, and you have to go with the flow. Good luck and enjoy!!

I would do CBJ at a time during the day when it's hot and the crowds are terrible. It's a really nice respite and has no waiting, except until the next show starts. I mean, there wasn't even a wait on December 30th!
