last time we had DDP two years ago, you were allowed to order adult QS meals for kids, they never checked kids or adults, does anyone know if this is still the case? Only asking as I have major issues with the rubbish that is on most of the children's menus, my children eat what we eat at home!

The rule is that you can only order the number of meals for the number of people in one go. So that means that if you have 2 adults, 2 kids you can only order those meals. It shows the CM when you scan your band.

They don'y separate the credit though.

The kids CS meals aren't all bad and they have improved - for example DD loves the turkey sandwich. Turkey lettuce & tomato on a brown goldfish shaped bread. The kids nuggets are the same as the adult ones now so they are proper breast meat not the processed stuff.

We all eat the same at home but we also do have takeaways, fast-food etc so when we are away to a certain degree I let her choose. 2 weeks isn't going to kill her plus she doesn't like chips/fries so will choose fruit instead anyway!

We'll need to watch closely how things unfold. The rule seems to be changing.

As you may have noticed Leah (from WDWinfo, DIS's very own mother site) posted a news where it's announced that ordering an adult meal for a child with a CS credit is now officially allowed (starting today)

http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/changes-taking-place-to-the-disney-dining-plans/

The other big change to the quick-service meals is that adult and child quick service credits can now be used interchangeably. This has been a known loophole in the system for a while now; it’s now officially allowed.

the news has still to be confirmed officially by Disney

Thanks so it seems you still can.

Elise I am not one of those mothers who gives their kids health food all the time, it is just extremely frustrating for Dd who is 6 to have a limited choice of pasta, burgers, nuggets etc. on repeat particularly at TS meals, whilst we eat steak, scallops, sushi, which she would dearly love to be eating herself. In fact we have made our reservations. Based on menus, either buffets or decent menus such as Teppan Edo.

Last time we went, 3 of us were on DDP, DS was just too young. We would order three adult CS meals,no one ever checked and DD and DS would share. Seems as though this is officially allowed now.

We have just returned yesterday and had the QSDP - on our previous trips the kids credits were always listed separately on your receipt, eg 10 adult credits and 5 child credits to use. This time the credits were listed together, eg 15 meal credits to use.

On this trip our DD ate from both menus, if she liked something off the kids menu, she chose that, if not then she chose an adult meal. We presented at the tills together and it was never commented on that we bought three adult meals rather than 2 adult, 1 child. Likewise when we wanted to exchange a QS meal credit for a snack that was fine too. Two nights before we were due to leave the restaurant manager chatted to us and said if we had any QS meal credits left over then to go ahead and trade them for 3 snack credits per meal and spend up as he didn't want us to leave without using them all up. I think this was due to come in to effect from 31st May?

It was some years ago my DS was on the child's dining plan (he's 16 now) but he always ate adult CS meals and we were absolutely never questioned about it. My DD is 13 and for the last two trips as a Disney adult has eaten many children's meals both CS and TS. They don't care about that either. This is the most technologically advanced holiday destination in the world. If they cared they would make it impossible to do it so I would try it and see what happens. There are a few decent children's choices out there but it is primarily crap. That's why my DD likes it ;)

Just read an article about the new changes to the DDP, it included the following: "Quick service meals are changing as well. Under the new plan, a meal can be traded for three snack options, but they all must be used at the same time and place. A dessert can be exchanged for a non-alcoholic beverage or a side item. Adult and kids’ meals will also be interchangeable. Children ages 3-9 will no longer need to order off of the kids’ menu, and adults can order a kids’ meal if they want".

I had missed the bit about swapping a desert for a drink. That's a great change and something I've asked to do in the past with mixed responses.

In some ways the TS meals are worse than the CS. And there you can't swap kids meals for adults as the credits are still separate.

Unfortunately, Teppan Edo was a bit disappointment for us in December. They have removed the mushrooms they used to serve with the meat and added cabbage & carrots cooked in the hot plate to the noodles. DH & I didn't like them they were just odd. I didn't even bother getting DD to try them. I will eat any vegetable almost usually but these just were not good.:crazy2:

For our DDP in July we have half breakfasts, 2 signatures, Hoop Dee Doo, Garden Grill & Coral reef. Its a shame as the menus could be so much better if they tried a bit - it also seems like the chefs don't care when cooking the kids meals either. DD has had over cooked chicken and steak which just isn't nice :sad2:

I like it when we don't have the DDP as we eat offsite more and then DD gets more choice. TBH we all love pasta so have that quite a lot but otherwise its places like Longhorns that offer a childs steak etc
