Counter service & viewing Illuminations?

For the craziest day at WDW, we will be at Epcot for July 4, for the entire day and will be viewing fireworks...the plan is to get food from a counter service restaurant and grab a seat to eat and wait for show...where do you suggest is a good location to sit....and possibly have counter service close by?

We stopped in Germany, I got a brat, then dh stopped in China, got eggrolls and we stopped in Mexico to eat our dinner and watch Illuminations. If you all like Mexican, Mexico is a good spot. If you all like Fish and Chips, UK is a good stop. Stay away from China, it's definately not a good spot for viewing.

Thanks...we could do mexican food...are you referring to eatting in their actual restaurant to view Illuminations or a mexican counter service?

Counter service - they have seating there, but it usually fills up pretty fast. If you get there early enough, you could stake your claim on a table and just eat really slow, or get a Margurita (sp?) or two and enjoy the rest.

Rose and Crown is the only table service from which you can view Illuminations.

Be aware, though, that those lagoon side seats in the Cantina (Mexico) are often taken several hours in advance of Illuminations by people who have no intention of leaving.

Years ago we had a table at the outdoor Mexican restaurant, not a table at the railing but near the railing, to view Illuminations. The table next to ours and closer to the railing had a couple sitting there who were obviously going to watch Illuminations also. There was about 2-3 feet from their table to the railing. About 5 minutes before Illuminations starts this family of 4 or 5 walks up to the railing next to this couple's table and stands between their table and the railing. The man sitting at the table says to the family now standing in front of them "Excuse me, but we can't see Illuminations with you standing right in front of us". The man with the family standing at the rail says to the man at the table "To bad, we are standing right here and not moving". Next thing you know a fight almost breaks out.

So Illuminations starts, this show about peace and harmony in the world, and the two people in front of me are almost coming to blows.

The fast food at the America Pavillion, Liberty Inn I think it's called, is typical American fast food fare: chicken fungers, burgers, hot dogs, fries.
