Counter Service Question

Ya know, I'm beginning to think this DDP is more trouble than it's worth!

Here's my question: The brochure states that a counter service meal means an entree, a drink and a dessert. I imagine to avoid confusion they want you to get everything at once, but what if you want something frozen for dessert? Do you have to eat fast so that it doesn't melt, or is there some provision to go back for that (and not be charged for a snack)?

And what happened to the corn dog nuggets at Cosmic Rays? Yep, my kids (9 and 6) are just going to LOVE WDW's new healthy kids menu. Somehow I think I'm going to be eating stuff from the kids counter service menu, while they eat mine!

I think at place's that have ice cream they either give those guests a token to exchange for the ice cream, or you just show your receipt when you go back though for the ice cream.
If they don't say -- ask.

:thumbsup2

I agree with you totally on the CS kids meals and the TS meals. They are plain and boring. Last year was difficult but I tried to avoid the ones that were all the same so the kids could get a little variety. I'm doing the same this year as well. Like choosing PP at DMGM where there is no kids menu. We all love PB at MK so 1/2 of us will order from there and the 2 younger kids will get something from CHH due to the lack in PB kids menu. My kids last year were informed by my DH and I that if the desserts sucked:scared1: at a certain CS then the desserts were all shared between the 5 of us. NO problems and everyone was happy. This moto will be used this year too. This will be our last time going to disney for awhile. We will try something different next year but hoping if we do return the kids menu will have drastically changed (my kids aren't on diets while on vacation) or they will be older and they can order off the adult menu.

I agree that the kids menus suck! While they were better Jan 08 than Dec 06, they still aren't great. My daughter eats healthy most of the time and is very slim. It won't hurt her at all to eat unhealthy one week of the year. Let the parents make the decision on what the kids eat!

Concerning frozen desserts, the only frozen dessert I recall is the Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade. That they will give you at the time you order, and it's so frozen solid that it's just thawing out enough to get your spoon into it by the time you finish up your lunch.

The only place I can think of getting a frozen Mickey Bar or something is at the food court at your resort. There I have heard that they're helpful and usually will let you come back for it a little later on, however that's not the rule, it's up to the individual CM as to how flexible they want to be on that. Technically I think they want you taking your dessert at the time of your order to avoid having guests coming back for their desserts hours later.

our last visit some places offered the ice cream bars and we had to get them with our meal. As hot as it was, we have to wolf donw our food quickly or eat dessert first which I hate! They really should give you a token or ticket because I'd rather have something cold than some old dry cake.

Regarding the frozen deserts - at least at ASMo food court, you tell them when you pay what you want, and they stamp it on the receipt. You have a certain amount of time to come back for it (I'm thinking it was 1 hour). Warning: The will NOT let you change your mind about what you want.

Where do you get the frozen lemonade? My Mom would love that!!!

typhoon lagoon allowed us to buy the meal and we had a receipt to go back and get the icecream sandwhich

Bumping...

Where was the frozen lemonade found?

Most CS at AK for the frozen lemonade. The water parks gave tokens last year. Sunshine seasons has Edy's hand dipped ice cream and last summer they made us get it all at once--that was a melty mess!

I found it (the frozen lemonade) a bunch of places at Disney Studios too. One was across from the Lightning McQueen/Mater meet and greet.
