Well, I've been tweaking my ADRs (again!!!!) We are no longer going to have a TS meal on our MK day but I would still like to hop on the monorail to get a break from the park and check out the resorts. What are some good counter service options at the monorail resorts? Is Gasparilla Grill any good? We've never been to the Grand Floridian so we wouldn't mind checking that resort out. TIA!

My sister and I like going on the monorail to all the resorts gift shops and we have had many good counter service meals on there. GF has a cafe and the food court there is good as well. Poly has good one down stairs. Contemporary has a new one next to Chef Mickeys but we have not tried that one yet. but tried their food court few years ago and was good :cool1:

DH and I can recommend the Contempo Cafe. We ate there for the first time 2 weeks ago and would definitely go back. We had to have a CM explain the ordering process to us, but it wasn't difficult.

We like Capt. Cooks at The Poly. The kids love the plantain chips. If you into Dole Whips you can get one there.

I love the quick service at the GF, they have a great new expanded menu. I also love Captain Cooke's also for the sushi. Both are great setting, but if you have never been to the GF go there, it's amazing!

We did counter service at Contemporary and it was ok. The food was good and the choices were fine but the seating area was limited and was crowded even though we were past the dinner hour. I am also not fond of the computer ordering system, which I think might be at all monorail resorts or deluxe resorts. We've done it twice and had problems both times. We stay at POR, though, which has one of the better food courts so maybe we are just spoiled ;)

We did this one on a whim last year (cancelled our ADRs at The Wave last minute-ish and needed somewhere to eat!) and we were VERY pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We were there in prime dinner time and it wasn't crowded at all. Lots of fun options and yummy desserts.

I would highly recommend going to the Contemporary and trying the Contempo Cafe which is one of my favorite Quick Service locations in all of Walt Disney World.

I use to think Gasparilla's Grill & Games was good, however after they changed their menu in my opinion the quality of the food has gone done and I don't see myself eating there anymore.

We love Gasparilla's Grill at the GF. We like the expanded menu and are always happy with our meals there!

Last February we stayed at the Poly and set aside one afternoon to visit the GF for lunch. We got some great burgers there at the counter service place. It was too chilly for us that day, but I highly recommend the outdoor seating here. I didn't love sitting inside because you are sitting basically in the arcade area. There's plenty of tables outdoors, though, and the view of the water and the atmosphere are great. We almost didn't find it though. You have to go down to where 1900 Park Fare is, then go outside and around the building to get there.

At the Poly, we had Captain Cooke's once for dinner, and ate it in our room. The food was good. I had the asian noodles (that is similar to what's served in Kona cafe) and DH had the pulled pork sandwich. There's a strong smell there, whether it's the cooking oil or burned flatbreads, I'm not sure. I'd only go here if it's a pretty day and you can sit outside. They have some outdoor seating, with views of the volcano pool. They have pineapple and vanilla Dole Whip available from a self serve machine here, if you like that it's a huge plus!

We always pop to Poly and CR at least once or twice a trip. Aloha Pork sandwich and Dole Whip at Poly (Pork is the same as the luau), and can't miss the Tonga Toast for Breakfast.

Contempo has WONDERFUL Cupcakes (Dolce de Leche, Black Forest) and an AMAZING beef Flat bread. The breakfast burrito is great also!

We love Captain Cook's!!! We don't eat many CS meals, but Captain Cook's and the Kona sushi bar are absolutely my favorite resort CS (not just on the monorail.) CC has a Great menu variety, good food and nice patio seating near the volcano pool. Like the previous poster, we're fans of the noodle entree and the pork sandwich - yum! I'm not sure when the Kona sushi bar opens, but that's a great CS too.

I can recommend either Contempo Cafe or Captain Cook's, but I really prefer the latter. I love the grown-up grilled cheese and Aloha pork sandwich at Captain Cook's and their chips (homemade potato chips mixed with fried wonton - yummy!) If the weather is nice we really enjoy sitting outside to have lunch.

I really like Contempo Cafe. The mahi mahi sandwich is very good. The cupcakes look awesome but I've yet to try one.

Captain Cook's is also very good. The Hawaiian flatbread is tasty as is the club sandwich with homemade chips.

I wasn't wowed by Gasparilla's at all.

Recommend Captain Cook's at the Poly especially if you like dole whips.
