I am searching for my options for counter service meals. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE all things DIS but even though this is my week to "splurge" on my diet I get tired of Burgers, Chicken Fingers and Pizza! Can anyone suggest some other options?? THANKS!

I really loved Sunshine Seasons in The Land at EPCOT. The grab and go stuff was such a nice change, and the stuff from the kitchen looked great, too.

I also liked Captain Cooks at the Polynesian Resort, they had a good noodle dish and a fantastic Poly salad (the Poly Chips looked yummy, too). We had both a couple of times.

Hope this helps!

Our absolute favorite in the parks in Cosmic Ray's. The half chicken and ribs is great as are the mashed potatoes and green beans it comes with. I had it a few times in November.

We too enjoyed Sunshine Seasons and the desserts were wonderful! Between all of us we tried about everything there and it was all very good.

Also, away from the parks, Woflgang Puck Express is perhaps the best food I have ever had. We went back to DTD just to go there again. We had the
Rotisserie BBQ Beef Fire-Roasted Focaccia Melt and the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken both times it was sooooo good. I just can't tell you!

Another vote for SS in Epcot. They have lots of variety! I also like Tangeriene Cafe in the Morracco pavillion. In MK, Cosmic Rays has very good barbeque. DHS...hmm...if you are into sweets (hey, for me they qualify as a meal) I'd check out the Writer's Workshop. There are some okay place to eat in DHS, but nothing stands out. AK I have not eaten anything but snacks at!

Flame Tree Barbeque in AK for ribs, pulled pork sandwhiches, etc.
Almost any country in EPCOT except the US pavillion. I like the UK fish and chips and the Mexican combo platter in particular. Sunshine Seasons also has excellent options in EPCOT.
Columbia Harbor House in MK for a good tuna sandwich.
ABC Commisary in DHS for a great Cuban sandwich or chicken curry with rice.

I actually find that most counter services have a variety aside from burgers and fries. In all my visits to WDW I may have had a burger at Pecos Bills (and it was yummy), but I can't think of anywhere else. I've had the pizza at Pizza Planet and Pizzafari, and I really don't care for it. So, I don't go to either.

This is a good time to say I really miss my all time favorite counter service meal, the chicken and mashed potatoes at Tusker House in AK.

i get tired of that stuff too....MK-I liked the salads at Pinochios Village Haus and the variety at Cosmic Ray's. This time we are going to try Columbia Harbor House for the tuna sandwich and BLT Salad (this looks so yummy!)

DHS-Backlot Express has a good grilled turkey sandwich with roasted red peppers i liked last trip. they also had a good sugar free dessert if i remember correctly.

AK-We want to try Yak and Yeti for CS this time, looks like some pretty good Chinese food.

Epcot-Sunshine Seasons has GREAT variety....and we are definetely trying the CS in Morocco this time! YUM!

Hope thie helps!

Great options at the resorts too. CS at AKL comes to mind, as well as what's on the menu at Capt. Cook's (Poly).

Tangierine Cafe in Epcot- Wraps, falafel, lamb, chicken platters, lentils, hummus. Yum! Sunshine Seasons has a large variety of food. Asian, grill, salads, soup. Lotus Blossom Cafe in China has noodles, stir-fry, fried rice.

Yak and Yeti CS or Flame Tree BBQ in AK- Yak and Yeti has chinese in cute take-out style boxes. Noodles, chicken, shrimp. Flame Tree BBQ has ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, salads.

Woflgang Puck Express in DTD! There are so many options and I don't think you can go wrong with anything because the food there is SO good. Earl of Sandwich in DTD has really good sandwiches.

Pecos Bills has a pulled pork sandwich that my dad really enjoyed. They did have a chicken wrap that looked really good and filing. I'm planning on getting that in October.

Have a great trip! :)

So :offtopic: off topic but your avi pic is great. A few years ago I had a photo taken of my 3 boys from the back with thier ears on pointing at the castle first thing in the morning before everyone was in the park. It is my favorite picture. Even the photopass photographer was saying he was going to use that again.

Sorry OP back to the post. I Love cosmic rays also. As well as flame tree at AK.

We're going to try the Pepper Market at CSR. We'll take the bus from AK on our AK day. Nice selections for CS!

Also, as mentioned, Wolfgang Puck's Express, Yak and Yeti, Flame Tree, Cosmic Ray's, Sunshine Seasons, any of the countries in the World Showcase, and the food courts at POP and All Stars have nice selections too!

There are PLENTY of GOOD CS options! You just need to know where to look for them!! I bet I can go an entire week on the QSDP without ever having a burger, nuggets, or a hot dog!

In Magic Kingdom....We love Columbia Harbour House.....great Tuna sandwich.

In Epcot we love.....Sunshine Seasons in Future World and Tangerine Cafe in the World Showcase.

My counter service list in order from favorite to lesser favorites:

#1) FLAMETREE!!!! My single favorite restaurant in all WDW, get a good seat in the woods and watch the critters. Don't take my seat overlooking the water!!!

2)
I really loved Sunshine Seasons in The Land at EPCOT.
Second that! The walnut goat cheese salad is to die for!

3) Pinocchio Village Haus. Great pizza. Great figaro fries!

4) Morocco. I love the food, but I've found the staff rude on every visit. They are the ONLY restaurant that has ALWAYS been rude.

5) Pizzafari - I know you said no pizza, but they have an awesome hot italian sub!!!

Pecos Bills used to be on the top of the list, but on last visit the meat was all fatty and GRISTLEY!!! I'm not Andrew Zimmern. I do NOT like sinew tissue in my burgers!!! The staff was also "tired", and the outside area was dirty and uninviting. I have heard that they refurbished it. I'll try again and see if it's back up to the top 3 like it used to be in May. (That's why I NEVER base my visit by someone's ONE TIME bad experience!!!!!!! We had ONE bad experience that was preceded by many many great experiences.)

Omigosh! The possibilities:)
MK: Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbor House
Epcot: Udon at Yakitori House (you knew I was going to say that, didn't you?)
AKL Mara: African Stew and usually at least one of the soups on offer at Boma; falafel pita
Any given value resort foodcourt: pasta alfredo with chicken

Planning for a family of 5 with : Me wanting great food, DH, 3 kids including : PIcky, Picky and Newly vegetarian:

MK: Cosmic Ray's
EP: The Land: Sunshine Seasons
HS: Sunset Market

This was satisfactory for everyone....

I"ve heard for AK - Flame Tree BBQ.......

Well - That's my answer....

How could I forget WPE? The best CS dining choice ever! I have gone to ES, too, and it was okay. I don't quite get the hype, but it is worth a try. Out of the two, though, if you are on the DP, WPE is a better value, too.

The chicken caesar from Cosmic Rays is awesome, love the tuna sandwich from Columbia House, WPE in DTD has a huge selection and Tangieriene Cafe in Epcot is the best
