Which counter service restaurants do you prefer at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios :)

In Animal Kingdom we prefer Flametree Barbecue, the food and portions are good although we will probably try Yak and Yeti CS this trip since it is DDP now. In HS we used to like ABC Commisary but they changed their menu for the worse. We do not like the CS meals in HS, but some have changed since September. TSPP is edible but not great. Last time we just sat down at Sci-Fi pretty cheap. Starring Rolls looks to have very good sandwiches but they are pre-made and we don't like mayo on our sandwiches.

For us Flame Tree at AK is a must do, if nothing else for the great seating by the water. The food can be a bit dry sometimes but it is still pretty good. We tried Yak and Yeti CS once and it was pretty good as well.

As for DHS, it is a lost cause. The pizza at the Toy Story Pizza Planet is edible but nothing special. We were unimpressed with ABC Commisary and last year tried FairFax Fare. It wasn't bad but now they have changed their menu to sound a lot like Flame Tree Barbecue so we will give it a try although I have seen some posts by people who were unimpressed.

We tend to leave DHS around lunch and head over to DTD which we find easy to do as we rent a car.

my favorite counter service at AK and my favorite counter service anywhere is flame tree barbecue its amazing i love the ribs and the corn muffin it is so good and i have only eaten at one HS counter service dont remember the name

at AK, i recommend flame tree bbq or pizzafari.
at DHS, backlot express or toy story pizza planet are okay. studio catering company used to have a great bbq sub sandwich, but it's no longer on the menu.

We always eat at Pizzafari at AK. We like the Italian Sammy! And it is inside! We tried Flametree once and it was too dry. Someday we will try it again. HS, ughhh.... TS Pizza Planet is OK, but we usually go to Boardwalk Bakery for lunch on HS day. Lots of dessert choices! Or, if you are not on a DDP or willing to pay OOP, Beaches and Cream is yummy!!! I could SO go for a No Way Jose!

AK: We really enjoy the QS next to Yak and Yeti.
HS: There is a place right before Tower of Terror that my family ate at in January and it was pretty good. They had chicken and ribs with baked beans and cole slaw.

Flame Tree BBQ

DHS:

I don't eat cs in this park; if I had to though it would be Starrring Rolls. With that said, I can tell you where not to go. If you are walking around near the American Idol Experience and you happen to see a sign that says ABC Commissary, run, don't walk, in the other direction; avoid this place at all cost. There should be a sign hanging over the entrance that says, "warning the surgeon general has determined eating here is dangerous to your health."

i went to the same place in HS it was god i just cant remember the name

Definitely Flame Tree at AK. One of the best CS on property.

I have to agree with a few other posters that there really is no good CS at DHS. We typically eat at Backlot Express but I may take some of the other posters advice next time and walk to the Boardwalk for lunch.

I agree with the poster who said run from ABC Commissary. That place is awful.

I just tried the hot Italian sandwich at Pizzafari in the Animal Kingdom and it was amazing (IDK how everything else is there it was my first time eating there). I do like Flame Tree BBQ, though I think their quality has slipped a lil in the past few years.

As for DS when its just me I tend to eat at Toy Story Pizza Planet. This past trip I thought the crust tasted better than in the past. My mom and sister ate at Studio Catering Co and loved it, said they won't eat anywhere else now.

Heed this advice! This place is the worse, don't even walk through the doors.

For us we end up doing hambugers or pizza for cs you can't mess them up to bad but i will say that at AK the itialan sammy in pizzafari was really good my wife is picky so we stay to burgers and pizza

Totally agree. ABC Commissary was nasty when we were there. Flame Tree BBQ is awesome.

It seems that they are currently in the process of doing an overhaul of at least some of the DHS menus. Perhaps word has finally got to the top - or sales are reflecting the general opinion. I am therefore willing to give it a try again. I will say we have never got much done in that park. I think a big part of the reason is that whenever we get hungry we make our way to the exit to go elsewhere for food - and just don't bother going back that day. I am going to make an extra effort to give it all another go. :)
