So I have a pretty good idea of which table service meals are good and which arent, from reading the boards. But what are your favorite counter service meals? Counter service meals to avoid?

Royal St Veranda in DL: vegetarian gumbo in a bread bowl, and their fritters with a dipping sauce (though I've never had both near the same time...too much food!)

Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA: vegetarian chili in a bread bowl

chocolate chip cookie with an iced latte from Burrbank bakery, the bakery on Main St and/or the permanent cart to the right of the front of the castle in DL.

I don't really vary from those meals and treats, so not much variety. :upsidedow

My MOST favorite is Red Rocket Pizza Port in Tomorrowland. :cloud9: with the fusilli pasta with white sauce, yummo :thumbsup2

We love love love the French Market Restaurant in NOS. Some of the yummiest friend chicken ever. And the red beans and rice is awsome!
Also Pacific Wharf Cafe in CA. Yummy soups and yummy salads in super yummy breadbowls.
My DD2 is a fan of Corn Dog Castle. Corn dogs the size of your head. The kid cant finish a bowl of cereal, but she can sure eat the heck out of those corn dogs!

I really liked Taste Pilots Grill.

I didn't rate Hungry Bear... It was ok, but I'd probably avoid it next time...

I will eat almost any where, except Village Haus in fantasyland. I havent eaten there in probably 10 years. Their burgers are probably better now, but I'm not willing to risk it! I was also not terribly impressed with cocina cucamonga in DCA. The food was ok, not horrible, but the service was slower then slow. It took us for ever to get food.

Favorites: pizza port for great salad and pasta, havent had the pizza. Royal street veranda for clam chowder in a bread bowl. Corn dog cart on main street (you can ask for "no chips" and they take a little off the cost).

Last year we only ate twice at a counter service restaurant:

Pizza Port- Awesome pizza, and you get a big slice too! I had the Hawaiian with ham and pepperoni. and a side salad, more then enough for me.

Whitewater Snacks- Had a cheeseburger and fries, pretty good too. Burger was well done and cooked to order which help alot. Also the only place that has refillable fountain drinks!

Our family faves:

French Market in NOS
Pizza Port in TL
Pacific Warf in DCA
Whitewater Snacks in GCH

I just had to post because I loved your screen name---check out my avatar;)

I don't know what the place is called (anyone know?) but it is near the Blue Bayou and is a take out window with clam chowder and gumbo bread bowls. Super good! We have eaten just about everywhere in the parks and don't mind spending some money for good food--but this place was one of the best and cheapest we ever had! We got the soup bread bowls and ate them while waiting for the fireworks to start (which due to high winds, they sadly didn't that night!) and they were beyond tasty!

My favorite is the plaza inn for the fried chicken. Soooo bad for you but it sure is tastey. :rolleyes1:

::yes:: I agree. Villiage Haus is the only place I refuse to eat as well.

I really liked test piolts grill the fries with everything are AWSOME!!!!

Redd Rockett's in Tomorrowland - I love the Chicken Fusilli, and it is big enough to split. They have good breadsticks, too.

Pacific Wharf in DCA - Love the bread bowls with soup! The broccoli cheese is great. Plus, they have great desserts here. Lots of the same things that are at Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street, but not the long line that is always there!

Bengal BBQ in Adventureland - My hubby loves the meat skewers here. I am not big on meat, but I love the veggie skewers.

We also often don't get a meal; we just snack on Mickey Mouse pretzels, treats from Pooh shop by Splash and Dole Whip floats.

We really like Taste Pilots Grill, everything we have tried is good

Corn dog at the cart or Corn Dog Castle

Chimichanga's at the cart ($5, good deal)

Chicken Strips and fries at the Stage Door Cafe

Cobb Salad at the Plaza Inn (10% off with AAA)

Most anything at Rancho Del Zocalo (although I'm not thrilled with their enchilada sauce) (10% off with Disney Visa and free refills)

Really didn't care for Red Rockets, didn't think it was all that tasty myself. But I do like that you get free refills there.

Mickey Mouse pancakes at the Riverbelle Terrace - a must every trip.

We havent tried many yet, but a few that we liked were :

Rancho del Zocalla- coming from San Diego, I have to say the Mexican food is pretty 'eh'... i'd say it's about Taco Bell level (I'm a vegetarian, so I got the veggie taco salad). What we Really love about this place is the atmosphere! All of the hanging laterns are lit up so pretty and night and make star patterns all over the walls. I would definately at least hit this up for some of their yummy chocolate cake just to relax in a pretty area in the park at night

Stage Door Cafe- If you want some old fashion carnival food, this place delivers! The mozzarella sticks are uncommonly good and they have crazy delicious funnel cakes. Not something out of the ordinary, or diet friendly, but it's good for a quick, indulgent snack!

Oh and don't pass up a churro!

We haven't tried the Bengal Barbeque or Taste Pilot's Grill but we definitely will be this next trip after reading all of the great reviews!! :cloud9:

Why does everyone think that a self serve beverage station means free refills? I'm pretty sure that isn't the intention of Disney, they just wanted to cut down on labor for serving drinks. Look at the design and layout of the beverage stations, they are not out in the open, they are in a area before you pay at a cashier.

Sorry, just my 2 cents I felt the need to share,

No one has ever said anything about refilling sodas. I would think if they didn't intend for you to refill they would at least put a sign up, but the don't so I do (refill that is)
