We're going in 4 weeks from today 2 adults, 2 children and (2) 2 year olds(we don't have to pay for them for the meal plan). Does anyone know if when using your card at counter service rests, does it register that there 2 adults and 2 children on it? If just an adult goes up to the counter, can they order from the adult menu and not the childrens menu? My kids love the tuna sandwiches at Columbia Harbour House, and I know they wouldn't like the only offerning on the kids menu.

Well, I just got a chance to read back on this and never imagined the drama this question could create. Well anyway, feel free not to reply, or Moderator, feel free to remove this thread.

You are right, people can definitely get judgemental on this topic! As to your question though, people have occassioally reported not being able to get 4 A meals at the same time with a card reading 2A and 2C. However, nothing is tracked and if you are concerned about this then just both stand in line and order 2A meals each, or have one of you stand in line twice getting 2 adult meals each time. That way there will absolutely be no chance of being questioned and you won't feel paranoid! :)

If they are two years old, then they can't be on the meal plan. I think it is only for ages 3-9, as a child. Am I wrong?

Yes, the card says 2A/2C on it. The one and only place we ordered more than 2 adult meals at one time was at CHH (because the line was ridiculously long and slow-moving) and it wasn't a problem. They were also allowing people to substitute a cup of chowder or vegetarian chili for the dessert (chocolate cake). We should have done this because (I can't believe I'm saying this) 3 chocolate cakes for 4 of us was too much (in my defense, they're very rich!).

Have fun!

We had 2A and 1C on our trip last week. I asked the waitress at CSR whether my daughter could get a bagel, juice, and fruit cup and have that count as a counter service if she did not want what was on the kid's menu. The waitress checked with another waitress and they both said she could have anything she wanted as long as it didn't add up to more than $10.25, including "adult" breakfast combinations. I don't think they pay too much attention sometimes to what is on the card, especially when the lines are long. I did not, however, get my daughter any "adult" CS meals as she would never have eaten them, but we did go with the bagel and fruit combo. :figment: :tinker:

I saw a picture on one of the dining report threads that showed a child tuna sandwich meal. The sandwich was in a mickey shaped plate with grapes and ?maybe cheese crackers. I thought this was great for my tuna loving child which is why I noticed it.

The plan can not really tell the difference.

Yes, but the cast members can and sometimes they will only allow you to order for the number and types of people on your card.

At this point, at CS eateries, Disney is relying on the integrity of its guests with regard to complying with the rule against using child meal entitlements for adult meals.

We just came back and our card said 2A 2C. At some places like Pecos Bill I ordered 4 adults meals (hamburgers) and they didn't say anything. Sometimes I would order 2 adult meals and then my husband would purchase 2 adult meals with his card.

Children under 3 are free if they eat off the parents plate. Did you purchase the dining plan for your two 2 yr olds? We ended up purchasing (we're DVC and can't take advantage of the free dining plan) the plan for our 18 mth old niece. We wanted her to be able to get snacks (ice cream) like the rest of us.

I think OP meant she has 4 children...2 on the DDP and 2 that are 2 yrs old.

Yes, we have 4 children, and only had to purchase 2 plans for them. I think it will work out great to share the 4 meals between the 6 of us, or, at times just have to purchase a little more. BTW, the only reason I asked the question was not to "beat" the system, but because my kids like tuna, not mac and cheese or chilled chicken, and I am trying to find a little variety for them for 7 days. I know this is a common complaint about the plan.

We spent 7 days on the free dining plan just last week & I have no idea! We had 4 "adults" & 1 child. Once I went up alone to order a child's meal & I was fine. We weren't using all our credits (CS meals or snacks) every day &, honestly, we lost track of how many adult vs child credits we had. We did use them all up in the end but I have no idea how many adult credits we used & if we used more adult credits or child credits than were allotted to us. I don't know if they keep track of adult vs child meals used!

Back to questioning the integrity of guests. Trip reports are numerous stating that the credits are still pooled and that there is no problem using them that way. Meaning based on trip reports, actual information, Disney is allowing this. I don't believe that the Op asked for your opinion on any one's integrity. Why not just stick to answering the questions, unless of course you have official documentation from Disney stating that they are relying on the integrity of their guests.

Wow, someone needs a nap! :rotfl2:

OP, Some CM's at CS places will not allow any deviations from the card but just ask when you get to your CS restaurant. I have seen CMs go out of their way to help in your type of situation. Good luck!

Bicker stated what some may consider conjecture, what others consider the natural conclusion of the rules listed in the Dining plan brochure. I don't think he impugned anyone by stating that, which is one way to read the brochure.

It is as much a fact as your conjecture that some Disney restaurants enforce items one way so they must "allow" using child credits by adults.

Just back last month and we had a problem with what was on the children's menu also. It is ridiculus that it is almost impossible to find a child's hamburger at a CS, plenty of pizza, mac & cheese, cold grilled chicken and hot dogs though. The one time that we did order 4 adult meals at one time at Pecos Bills, both my sister and I got on line and ordered two adult meals each. Otherwise 2 adult meals was usually more than enough for the 4 of us so other times we used two at a time and used the others for breakfast.

Personal attack reported. Please, let's just let his message die with that, and move on.
