Counter Service at MGM

My DH and I really enjoyed Flatbread Grill, which is in the back near the Backlot Tour. We both got the Barbecued pulled pork sub and I could have eaten it again and again!

I personally do not care for the CS at MGM, but if you have the time, take a boat ride over to BC and go to Beaches and Cream:thumbsup2

We ate the pulled pork at Flatbread grill as well and thought it was pretty tasty. Overall, I don't think the cs at mgm is terrific but both this and the arroz con pollo from there were good.

The hot dogs are very good, I think there is a large stand across from TOT. We did not care for backlot express or ABC commissary

I wish there were better offerings at MGM for CS. I haven't found anywhere I am willing to go back to. :confused3

We love the ABC Commissary at MGM. The kids get their chicken nuggets and fries, they have burgers and great open sandwiches. Best of all is the Chicken Curry......absolutely gorgeous. best thing there's load of seats as its quite big inside.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

we also liked the ABC Commissary
Pizza Planet was really fun too, you felt like you were actually in Toy Story

I for one did enjoy Backlot Express. I had a delicious veggie sandwich that came with blackbean salad (a nice change of pace from fries or carrots). And I enjoyed the strawberry parfait as well.

We liked Backlot Express. Granted, I just got the Chicken Fingers but thought they were great.

We might have to try Flatbread Grill next time.

I have never been to MGM/HS :scared: but this trip i can't wait. Is Pizza Planet a sit in restaurant? DO they only sell pizza? I know that after a few days of eating chicken nuggets for the kids on the last trip they would have loved to get a kids pizza for a change. what are they pizzas like?

I had no idea you could do this! where do you catch the boat and does it go back and forth on a reqular rotation?

Thanks for the tip!

We love Pizza Planet. It is a counter service, with tables inside, upstairs and some outside. Surrounded by arcade games, it looks much like the movie. I would compare it to Chuck E. Cheese pizza. We all like it. We eat fast food like Wendy's and McD's all the time if that tells you anything! They have a salad as part of a combo-iceberg and packets of dressing. They may offer more selections, but we enjoy the pizza.

Hi

We are staying at BC, however, Beaches & Cream is table service, not counter service.

Unless this has changed, I do not think Beaches and Cream takes ADR's, thus making it technically a counter service. There could be a significant wait, however, at peak times.

Personally, we were surprised that we actually enjoyed Pizza Planet on our last trip. We got Pepperoni Pizza and the Toy Story Salad (which is basically a greek salad). HTH!

We ate recently at the cs place right next to the Honey I shrunk the kids playground. I think it was called the pavilion grill? Anyway, I had a greek salad that was really good. My son had the pulled pork sub that was a little dry but certainly ok. Their chocolate cake was out of this world. My husband had a chicken caesear wrap that was good as well. Very garlicky! All in all plenty of healthy choices when you are sick of too much food!

Does that means I can use DDP counter service credits?

Whatever you do, DO NOT waste your money on the burgers at Rosie's (near the Toluca turkey legs). Wow, they are bad! Tasteless, dry, overpriced (I know, shocking), they are not worth your time and money. Disney, please take note; even McDonald's does (much) better than this.
