Countdown to August 2011 (tr link posted)

Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip to the beach! :thumbsup2 I would love to be sitting on some sand right about now listening to the waves splashing :cloud9:

I took this picture a while back and forgot to post it for you - just wanted to show you the countdown chart I made. DD gets to open a "yellow door" every day until we leave!
We're almost there!

Lovin' the beach pics - post more! Nothing says summer like some time at the beach!

I hope you are loving the beach! What a great way to spend the time before a trip to WDW! I have the same mickey bag! My friend got it for me as a gift last week when she was here. I think by the end of her trip she had like 3 of those bags lol.

Beach fun - yay!!!

That balcony looks like a nice place to relax and enjoy the view. :cool2:

What a great place to stay at the beach! So jealous!!!
To answer your earlier question, I'm really bad about running when I'm on vacation. Our last day at Disney is supposed to be an 11 mile run and I don't know yet what I'm going to do... Probably I'll run on Sunday since we get home late on Saturday night.

So cool to have your eye doctor on the DIS! That's the first time for that, I think. LOL!

It is cool - but odd. hehe

I hadn't heard this news about the monorail, what a bummer! I suppose they want everyone to just take busses now? Boooo.... I'll have to read up on that.

Love the Hidden Mickey ring!:thumbsup2

It appears that it will only effect us on one EMH night. Disney originally said that it would run one hour after reg park closing, which means not after hard ticket events. Now, they are saying no decision regarding those nights has been made. I think they see a logistics nightmare on those nights. :confused3

I love the hidden mickey jewellery! Your trip is coming up so soon!!

Thanks! We are getting very excited!

Those pictures at the shore are beautiful! Your girls are precious. :)

LOVE that ring! I totally want one!

And your dining plans look great. :thumbsup2 Your trip is getting so close now!! :woohoo:

It is the beach to us... haha - story behind that is when you are from PA, DE, NJ and say shore- you are headed to New Jersey. If you say you are going to the beach, you are headed to Delaware or Maryland. :goodvibes

Thank you- I think they are pretty cute!!

Have a great time at the beach!!! I agree -- it is the perfect way to spend some time before your Disney jaunt. :thumbsup2

Thanks! We had a great time (except one night of a family feud...but this can be the laundry instead of the story...:laundy:)!

It did help pass the time, and I would be sad to not be able to have a beach trip and a Disney trip.

Dh was looking at a real estate ad book I brought home from a trip to the shore...we might still get a beach or shore place some day...:rolleyes1 (The shore is closer.)

Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip to the beach! :thumbsup2 I would love to be sitting on some sand right about now listening to the waves splashing :cloud9:

It was lovely and the weather couldn't have been better!

LOVE the calendar-- it is wonderful. I will have to share the idea with my df whose daughter is four.

Your room looks beautiful! :thumbsup2 What a great way to pass the time until your trip! :goodvibes

It was a nice hotel. It is about the same cost as a deluxe in Disney and you get so much more for the money. (My mom paid for our rooms; we are very blessed.)

I love my Mickey tote! I actually had another bag (one a bit more "Hiltonish") and I took it to our pool one day to try it out. It just didn't cut it. So, I tugged Mickey around happily. He was right at home, actually. I saw two or three different Disney Castaway Cay items - shirts and a towel. My brother said he overheard some people talking, and the one guy was asked the best Cruise ship he'd been on. (Apparently, he cruises often...) He told the other person, hands down, Disney.

Beach fun - yay!!!

It was great in the evening. During the day, we were pool side!

We stayed there for two nights and moved to a condo for the other four. The condo is amazing, and it was good to have a living room with tons of light and room for our family to play games or just lounge.

I ran twice while at the beach - 4 miles each time. I figure I will take stuff with me and run if I get an itch.

Hello! I am back from the beach, but I have to upload the few pictures I took. I really feel like using my SLR is a commitment, so I didn't use it very much! I did use my iPhone, so I will post anything interesting...

We had a great time, and I am happy that we now only have 16 days till Disney!

The weather was amazing, and dh (who was home working) would occasionally give me the news of the weather he was suffering in at home. He did inform me that 102 was expected for my Friday's arrival home.

When I went down Friday morning at 6 am to load a couple of bags in my van, and send off my brother (he wanted to get home and run before it was too hot...silly boy...), it was already extremely warm at the beach. By the time 8:00 rolled around, I was happy to be headed out of town. It did not feel like it was going to be a beach day. O.M.G.!!! The girls were scheduled to have soccer practice on the turf at 5:30, and the closer we go to home, the more the car's outside temp increased...92, 97, 101, 103. (Practice was cancelled.) :scared1:

Today's temp was a bit better. The sun wasn't out in full force, but it was still around 96... The girls and I headed to a surprise lunch my mom and uncle threw for my grandmother. Grams was 80 last week!

I will post a couple of pictures from that tomorrow. (I was a bit more committed to the event...and took the Cannon.)

The heat has been miserable this week (and most of the summer here, truth be told). Hopefully, now that the heat dome has moved to the East Coast, it will just keep moving and temps will return to normal.

At least they were smart enough to cancel soccer practice! This weather has been awful!!!

Amanda

Gorgeous hotel and what a view! We've never had a beach holiday....mostly because we're smack dab in the middle of the country:rotfl2:

Wow, that's the nicest hotel I've ever seen at OC! :cool1: Granted, we haven't been since my family got a place in Rehoboth (seems to be a lot less crowded) but I don't ever remember our hotel looking that nice!

Hope you had a great relaxing time, ESPECIALLY with the heat we've had recently!

Right now, we are experiencing a serious downpour, which is seriously needed. I would be okay if it continued for a couple of days, but my mailman dh (who drives a topless, doorless jeep) might not be so happy.

Thankfully, weather looks good for tomorrow's practice!

We are only 1.5 to 3.o hours from the shore/beach. It is what most people do for vacation around here. (You know the people who don't understand why one would go to Disney every year...:lmao:)

It is a beautiful hotel. Luckily, the condo we rent is equally impressive, so we don't have to downgrade. Dh and I were looking at beach places before we bought into DVC. We were looking again for fun the other night. It is still a possibilty in the future. We wouldn't want to buy in OC for the 3 hour drive; Rehoboth and Bethany would be possibilties at 2.5 hours... Jersey is so much closer for us, but it doesn't offer communities with amenities...

We couldn't have asked for better beach weather!

Here are some pictures from the beach...I really didn't take too many.

Gannon is now five months old...

Yes, Emma has a devilish grin---she was up to no good.

Much better picture of Emma- in her snazzy new specs!

Here's a pic of the grandkids and great grandkids... (look closely, I photoshopped Gannon in...his monkey was blocking his face!)

Disney update...

I finally was able to change Sci Fi to 6:25 for our arrival night (I originally planned on 2:30; then changed it to 9:15 and 9:00.) I went to Disney dining at least twice a day for the last 5 out of 7 days.

We will arrive at the airport around 10:30, and our plans are to check into Jambo and swim. After our room is ready, we can shower and head to HS. It is EHM at HS with two Fantasmics. I plan on us doing the attractions that we don't run to at rope drop and squeezing in whichever E tickets we can. I am itching to do Star Tours.

I have yet to call Member Services and book dining. I read many instances of the segmented dining being a nightmare that I am a bit hesitant... I am planning on doing qs, deluxe, none, deluxe, qs. I think it might be okay.

I did confirm Magical Express and our luggage tags arrived. Hooray!!!

They are both lovely areas.... if you want to be close to a boardwalk, nightlife, etc. I would say look in Rehoboth. On the other hand, Bethany is quiet and perfect for families who just want to get away for awhile. (Even with Bethany, the drive to get to nightlife (Rehoboth or....heaven fobid, Dewey! :lmao: ) is quite short. If you have any questions about the areas, feel free to PM me. :) I grew up in MD so I have a lot of experience with the beach. (The Shore, not so much :)

Great pictures....everyone looks like they are really having a great time!

Love when the ME tags arrive:woohoo::woohoo:

I can't wait to use the tags!!

It took a little getting used to the glasses, but now I do like them.

My dh is from Delaware and a friend of mine lives in Bethany, so we are very familiar with the beaches. (Also, I have a funny Jolly Trolley story or two from Dewey ;). )

I read through your ptr last night but I need to post. I cheated and read links only...As much as I am on these boards scanning trip reports, I can't believe I missed it before... :confused3

:woohoo: on getting a Sci Fi ressie and your luggage tags!

Looks like everyone had a great time at your beach holiday - lol at photoshopping Gannon in on that last shot!
