Countdown for Vacation/ autograph books

Does anyone have any good ideas for making a countdown chart for kids? Not the most creative person and would like to make something with a countdown on days to our family vacation.

Also does anyone ever purchase autograph books ahead of time? Our first trip we bought at the hotel, but checking to see if anyone as any good ideas

We made a paper chain for my almost 3 year old. Every night we take another link off. And since toddlers generally don't have a real good sense of time, we decorated some of the days with stickers to signify special events, ie pizza day at school, sleep over at her Aunt's, so and so's B-day party, etc. That way there are "exciting" things to look forward to while waiting to go see Mickey. I made all of thes links with the days and my daughter decorated with stickers and markers.

I've bought blank autograph books from Oriental Trading for this year's trip. I'm making special design covers with scrapbooking stickers. I had to buy a dozen, but I buy a new book for every trip and we're going twice this year (that's 6 books) and I'll be giving one each to two of my nieces.
