Countdown chain question

Ok, I used the search and looked at 12 pages of posts. I cannot find the post on the countdown chain. I know I want to do one for our trip, but I was looking for ideas. I was thinking of just making a chain and using Disney stickers to decorate it. Is that all there is to it?

We just finished making ours last night. Last trip we did the countdown chart instead of the chain, but the kids asked for the chain again. Ours is pretty simple. We make the loops in groups of 5 so it's easy for them to count how many days are left. For example, 5 red, then 5 black, then 5 blue, etc. Last time we decorated with Disney stickers. This time we wrote the date on each loop. The kids take turns ripping off the loop each day. It's so much fun to watch the chain disappear! I'm sure there are much fancier ways to make the chains, but honestly, my kids probably wouldn't notice a big difference.They're just excited about ripping them off and getting to that last link!

You know, my daughter is only 3. She will probably feel the same way. Maybe I will do our chain in groups of 10 or in groups of 7 for counting weeks. I'll probably do 10's since she can count by 10's. Thanks for the idea.
