Anyone have pictures of their countdown calendars or ideas I can steal, if that's o.k. with you. lol We are telling my two boys we are going to Disney next Sunday and want to be able to have something so they don't ask me everyday when are we going, it is cute and first but I'm sure I will go crazy after a while:dance3: so much other planning to do too. The ten year old can count I'm sure he will just be doing a countdown in his head, but the four year old may need a little help with understanding the whole time concept. Thank you for you help.

hi...got this idea from my cousin....have to admit...LOL

Home Depot has free paint color cards with Mickey Mouse heads on them...make posterboard grid for month and each day peel off a MM head fom paint card and paste onto the day's square...

I got a piece of construction paper...

I put all disney stickers around the construction paper.

In the center I put 0 and then below that days until our WDW vacation.

I purchased post its (standard square ones) and counted out how many days needed until we got to 0 once i counted say 40 I separated those 40 from the others but I did NOT take them off individually, I just ripped all 40 off at the same time. I then #ed them, top was 40, the very last one was 1 (again don't trip them off, just lift them up and write the #). I just stuck them on the construction paper and it worked! Everyday DD ripped one off. Althought I admit, I held onto the post its while DD ripped one off everyday to ensure that nothing ripped. It worked out well and we will be doing it again this year :)
I will actually make it next week I think.

My granddaughter is four also. We took a few pieces of construction paper and cut it into strips (widthwise). Each strip was about one inch wide and 8 inches long. She decorated her strips with stickers and markers and by "drawing" pictures of herself in Disney world (so cute). We joined the ends of the first strip and taped it shut to make a circle -- then you loop the next piece throught the center and tape the ends, keep doing this til you have the right amount of days -- you end up with a chain link -- we hung it from a hook on her berdoom door and each morning she can tear off one of the links. It was a fun thing to make together and she loves watching the link getting shorter -- We made ours on January 1st for a trip June 3 so it was pretty long in the beginning! I think I like seeing it get shorter just as much as her. Have fun on your trip.

I'm going to use this idea!! I love it!!!
