Couldn't get Slinky FP today

It won't help you this time but in the future try checking in on Thursday or Friday. We are checking in on May 30 (a Thursday) and had no problem getting really good times for SDD and FOP. I think it's because we were able to access for the following week when most other people were not having access until their check in for Saturday, June 2 date. Unintended consequences of checking in two days before most people, so in effect getting a two day head start on fast passes for that week. I hope this makes sense.
Last year we couldn't get FOP so we got in line right before park close. They always inflate the wait times at close so don't let it scare you away. Get in line for SDD and enjoy it at night with your boys.

I did my FPs this morning. Staying at AKL 6-2 to 6-8. I looked for Slinky after getting my FOP FP. There were no FP on Monday and no ToT either, looked later in week but there was only evening ones which i didn’t want. I took a evening FOP on Tues. Doing AK then going back to hotel, eating at Boma at 5pm then going back to AK at night

I was online right at seven. We have a party of 5. All the fastpasses for the day I chose were gone. We are going 6/2-6/8. Does anyone have a similar experience on their 60 day mark? How likely am I to score a FP for it in the future? Thanks for any help. I'm pretty devastated.

When you say right at 7am was that 7 your time or Orlando time? Only reason I'm asking is I had friend who forgot about the time difference couple years ago and couldn't get 7DMT

I’m sorry! I know that is so frustrating! I would say keep checking at random times but otherwise just get there as early as you can for rope drop and hurry to the line, hopefully it won’t be too bad. Or try at night during Fantasmic. Another option is to get in line literally right before the park closes. From experience the posted time is never accurate. It’s usually half the time at least. I think they leave the high wait time up to discourage people from getting in line.

I made fastpasses on Sunday and it let me start making them at 6:30est. I couldn’t get Slinky Dog until the day we leave 6/5. We are a group of 9 and they day we leave, we’ll be. Group of 4. I’m constantly checking in hopes of getting one our first day, even if it’s just for the couple little ones. I did get FOP for 9 people at a decent time on 60+3. Good luck!

Thanks for your encouraging words! I will try all the strategies and hopefully something will give!

I got very lucky. I did have to move my HS day a couple of times to get one, but I ended up with a 6:50 pm on 6/1. I have 10 days of tickets, so I was able to play around to get one and plan the rest of my HS day around it.

Glad to know I'm not alone. Our arrival day is the only day Studios hosts morning EMH for resort guest so we will miss it. I'm pretty frustrated that Disney is now hosting these paid EMH parties that would cost our group 600 dollars!! We cant do that. Ive never felt second class in all the years I've been staying on property. This year I totally feel it. Super bummed.

Totally agree. I used to say that one of the best things about wdw was that once you entered the park everyone was on equal footing and a smart touring plan was all you needed. Then FP+ came out. Now all these special events. We’re going this summer but I know it’ll be several years before we come back. Disney is no longer the value for our money that it used to be.

We have never ended up with a SDD FP. Always just get in line at the end of the day. Wait times are overstated at the end and once the FP's are through, the line continually moves.

They *may* extend hours. If they do, look for them to possibly do the first few days of June this Friday or next. Most of June would be done on a Friday (early to mid) in May. If they do, they will add FPs for all the rides for those extended hours. Not usually right away but within 12-24 hours.

We are 6/8-6/16. I'm planning to book SDD on 60+4 at night (I've not had trouble at 60+4 thus far) and FOP at 60+6 AM.

I didn't even book my spring break (last week) trip until under 60 days. I was not able to get FOP or SDD, but with regularly checking back I was able to get a FOP. I didn't score a SDD, I roped dropped it insane (which was pretty crazy). But, the general consensus is that just because you can't get one at 60 doesn't mean youll never get one.

For our trip a few weeks ago, at the 60 day mark, I couldn't get SDD FP until the evening before we were checking out. We went to HS the first day we were there - arrived 30 mins before announced EMH for resort guests - followed the masses to TSL, and waited in line for around an hour to ride it first thing. It was a fun ride, and the queue has some cute theming and details that make the wait more tolerable. So we kept the evening FP for later in the week and enjoyed a second ride as the sun set. If we had not had a dinner reservation after that, we would have jumped in line again. The displayed wait time was 60 minutes, but judging on the size of the queue line, actual wait time might have been half that.

However, FoP is IMO the BEST attraction in all of WDW. There's nothing that compares. Congrats on getting FPs for it!

Why does it bother you that WDW offers special events? You don’t have to buy them, but it doesn’t cost you anything that they offer them. There are tons of special offerings I’d like to do, but that aren’t in my budget. It doesn’t make me feel 2nd class at all. If what they offered diminished my visit it would be a different story.

It is frustrating that demand is so heavy, but these special events actually lighten the demand on FP’s during regular hours I think. We’re doing DAH at HS and the MK and I have no need for fp’s for SDD or SDMT as we’ll ride them then. I had booked them until the events became available, then cancelled them once we got tickets for the events. I doubt I’m the only one that does that.

I'm curious, but I would think EMM would actually slightly impact the ability to RD SDD. Essentially, getting there 90 minutes early to be "at the rope" and being first on the ride will now likely be a 15 minute wait, correct?

Welcome to the club -- that was me yesterday.

I ALSO am feeling a like second class citizen. Things like EMM and DAH are limiting the number of days that get EMH's - and the benefits of roper drop or staying until close. If you can't afford to go the extra mile and pay more - well - the number of days RD is a option is down. And Disney has been shortening FREE park hours in preference to adding paid events. My budget was already tight to be able to afford Disney in it - and they are decreasing my options for free ways to manage crowd issues.

No, they really aren't. Disney cut back on those long ago, long before DAH or EMM. I don't think they'll ever go back to what it used to be regardless of DAH or EMM and if that's true, no one loses anything with the special events. EMM has very little affect on rope drop. Guests who do EMM get out of TSL before the crowd gets there. At least those who choose to do these events help to reduce demand during regular hours.

I guess I'll just never understand why not being able to afford something someone else can afford makes anyone feel second class. Our first trip, I went with my sister and her family. We stayed at Fort Wilderness, brought food from home and never even ate a purchased snack in the parks. Every meal was at the cabin. My kids whined to go to River Country, but I couldn't afford it and they understood, although they've never really forgiven me for promising next time- it closed before we returned. We actually took a little cash out on our home refinance to afford the trip at all! My sister stayed at the Polynesian. They ate out, had room service in, did extra things we could not afford. Not once did I feel second class nor was I ever treated the least bit different or begrudge her ability to do more.

Yesterday and today for a party of 2 I got:

Slinky Dog Dash
Avatar flight of passage
Navi river journey

All day of fast passes so don’t give up hope

Keep trying! I swear, things move around and some free up.
We've check day before and day of, and there were times available.
