Despite being up and on the website when it became available this morning, there was nothing available AT ALL for FOP for my AK day. I selected Na'vi instead. What should my strategy be to make FOP happen? I have a 10:50am Tusker House ADR. The park opens at 9. When do I need to be in line for FOP and how long do you think I'll wait?

I would check later days and see if I can find one then switch things around as necessary. Keep refreshing the app. Are you trying for a lot of people? You may have luck splitting up the group.

You have 2 options other than just getting in line at some point; Rope drop or right before close. If you get to the park at 8am, you'll be fine to rope drop FoP with minimal wait, and can even go hop on NRJ right after if you'd like. End of night right before close they post inflated wait times, but there still seems to be a wait just shorter than what they are showing.

Just curious, which day (eg, how many days) into your trip were you trying to get FOP?

In addition to the advice from PPs, I’d keep an eye on park hour changes... which lately have been happening early/mid month the month before. When and if they add park hours, new FP inventory will be added within a day or so afterwards. It’s a good time to readjust plans and grab any hard to get FPs you may have originally missed.

Just get to AK 70 minutes before scheduled opening. They will let you in the park about 45 minutes early and on FoP 30 minutes early. You should be off FoP right at the scheduled park opening time. And, yes, watch for park opening to change, because when that happens they will add fast pass times.

Last winter we were fortunate enough to score a FP for FOP but of course wanted to "do it again". We considered trying for a RD but really weren't up to "sprinting" with the masses and dealing with the "frantic" feel that that sort of thing brings. So we opted, instead, to get in line later in the evening. Now in the interest of full transparency we did have a stop at our favorite Nomad Lounge prior to going into Pandora that evening. With a couple of adult beverages under our belt we got in line for FOP. They had 120 minutes posted as the wait time and frankly it was every bit of that, however, we struck up a conversation with a lovely couple who were in front of us with their eight year old son and had a great time! The time passed quickly and we really didn't mind the wait at all! We also got to see all of the theming that we missed in the FP line. I would go with the evening.

I have two FP+ for FOP on two separate days and I still plan to get in line 5 minutes before closing for an additional ride. No way am I doing the mad dash at RD.

What's the longest people have waited at RD?
When I did RD several weeks ago, the park opened at 9:00 and I got in line about 7:45. Around 8:30 they started letting us in and corralled all of us at Pandora on the bridge. They then let us start going through around 8:45 or so. By the time I got on FOP and did Navi River after, it was about 9:10 and the park had "officially" just opened. There's a huge crowd of people doing the same thing as you, but it is a good way to do the ride early.

Keep checking. Last week I was able to get FOP for 4 the night before our AK day.

I ended up swapping one of our AK days for an Epcot day to get a 9 am FoP FP+. I did get a FoP FP in the evening of our first AK day, deliberately, to see Pandora in the dark.

If you can't switch your days I would keep checking the app for availability. I know they released a lot of extra FOP FP for our stay and I was able to move up our time during planning.

I've seen actual waits as short as 17 minutes close to closing time. Just keep in mind that the posted waits are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders.

same for me for today. couldn't get fp for fop either for 11/4. I got it for end of stay 11/8. either rd it for us or keep trying. i'm not switching my days or just go on it once the whole trip. the site was glitchy this morning of course so there was that.

Hi. With everyone saying they open the park earlier for AK, am I just to guess this will happen next week too? We do have FoP FP but I would like to be at park for opening, which for my AK day is 9:00 am. Should I count on the full park opening by 8:15 am?

Thank you.

I must have had an error screen 50+times this morning. It was so frustrating! The app crashed over and over on my phone, so that didn't offer me the second chance it did the first time I tried booking FPs and the website was crashing. I couldn't change my day because of my TH reservation.

And someone asked upthread: it was the first full day of my trip. I had to organize days somewhat based on my hard to get ADRs for my large party. It's a real PITA.

I used my laptop yesterday to make our FP+. I did try one on my phone after i got all of my hard to get ones and it was being glitchy just for those few seconds. I just continued on my laptop.

in my day there weren’t fastpasses! I remember waiting 2 hours in 90 degree heat to ride Thunder Mountain on July 4, 1995! And we didn’t have iphones! We couldn’t go online while we were in line! Do you know what we did? We talked to our family! And we loved it! Because we were at Disneyworld!

And the walk was uphill! Both ways! And we liked it!
