Couldn't get good ADRs -- need strategy

We leave Friday and are staying at the Contemporary (we just booked our trip a few days ago -- very impromptu) I had called immediately and got a good ADR for a character breakfast at Chef Mickey's for Saturday, so that's set.

I had made a couple of other ADRs, but we changed our itinerary so I called today to cancel those and make some new ones BUT there were no decent times at the Concourse Steakhouse for Friday night (night we arrive -- none between 5 and 8:30, which is after our son's bedtime). I was really suprised because I thought this was not too hard a restaurant to get into.

Less surprising was not being able to get into Crystal Palace on Saturday evening (nothing after 4:30 until 8)

SO, I'm wondering what to do. Do you think I should check back with the Concourse Steakhouse in a few days? Maybe things will open up when we have checked in?

What about dining in MK on Saturday night? Any suggestions??

yep I would call every day, especially after you arrive. Keep checking!

Since you're staying on the monorail, why don't you check the Poly (O'hanas or Kona.) Kona seems to get better reviews than Concourse Steakhouse.

I've also heard good things about Grand Floridian Cafe, and there's also a Character meal over there too (1900 Park Faire).

The boat ride over to WL sounds cool, so you can consider WCC also.

We found that MOST TS were seating people without ADR's if they arrived right at 5pm when dinner started. Not the super popular places, but moderately busy ones.

I talked to both waitresses at Boma and Kona and they told me the same thing...get there right away and usually you can slide in without much of a wait.

Next Friday is the first of the Halloween Parties, and I know I had a tough time getting anything in MK, and many of the monorail restaurants were also busy. I was able to get Grand Floridian Cafe, and then early this week finally got into Tony's at a reasonable time. I would keep trying, but you may have better luck away from MK....

I got in at the GF Cafe on Friday night and Tony's Town Square on Saturday. I still my try to get into the Crystal Palace, but its good to know I have somewhere to eat!!
