I really want to learn to make the art that you guys do, with the images inside the letters. What program do you guys use, and is it expensive? I would love to do these for my school and the clubs my kids belong to. Thank you for any help in advance :)

I use Photoshop Elements 6.0. There's a tutorial here that explains one way to do it.

I use Photoshop Elements 7.0.

If you elect to use it (or another version of Elements) there is a forum here:

http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/index.php

where all kinds of questions are answered. You become a subscriber and there are something like 300 tutorials available to you! I generally check this forum everyday to see what questions are asked and answered!

Thanks off to check if they work on my Mac :)
thanks you guys!

Wow, great!! I am downloading the trial for 7 now! I am so excited!! I am looking at the tutorial website and I am wondering, what would putting characters in the letters for names be called, so I know what to look for? LOL

TIA for any and all help!! I am soooooooooo excited!

DOM has the link in his post above! Don't matter if you have 6 or 7...

I do not know about tutorial for Paintshop Pro.

Prior to finding out about the tutorial I figured out a way to make them using a mask. It's the way I made my "Dom13" in my signature.

After creating the text I placed a border around it then added a background color that was different from the text color and the border color. Making sure it was all one flat image at that point, the text is no longer editable, I erased the letters leaving only the background and the border. With the letters now transparent I brought in the clip art I wanted to use and placed it behind the mask so that the character(s) showed through the openings where the letters were. After I was all done placing the characters I added a gradient behind everything then flattened it all, I could no longer move things individually. I then erased the areas outside the letters and saved it as a transparent gif.

Hope that helps. It's general and should work in any program that allows objects to be placed on top of each other.

Hey guys...I got photo elements 6 for Mac (yes, I have a Mac) anyway, I am trying to do a circular logo type thing, and I want the letters to go around it. I have watched a few tutorials and they show how to do it, but when they say that the cursor changes when you go near the line mine stays the same and it goes straight across the page, instead of in a circle...Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Please help!
