Could this be true? Luigi's tires going?

I didn't read the whole article, just the summary a pp posted. Does it say when the closing date for it is?

We love this ride and laugh hysterically every time we go on. We love to chase each other around the floor and either bump or dodge. I can see how it's more fun for us since we usually use 2-3 tires with just our family, so we have a target in mind.

I hate the premise of the new proposed ride. I don't need another one that just spins us in circles. And I agree, it sounds very similar to Mater's.

Our family loves LFT! I agree it does take work, but I like that it is engaging and it is so pretty with the lights at night. I would hate for them to change the concept of it to be so close to Mater's.

That being said, if they do change LFT, I hope it turns into something without a height restriction. I think it is kind of ridiculous that all the rides in the most recognizable "land" to little kids have height restrictions.

I'm looking forward to trying this again in December. I sort of just got the hang of it the one time we did it last year. Looks like we better get on it a couple times this year!

Our family LOVES LFT!!! Our kids have such a kick out of getting each other! I still have to read the article, but from what I've read so far I'm not impressed with the new ride.

So true!

It was a good idea that just didn't execute well. Most people need a few minutes to figure out how to move. By then the ride is over and who wants to wait in line again just to see if you can do it?

I would not be opposed to just plain old bumper cars. A classic that is always fun. Make the bumper cars all the different Cars characters. I would ride that and the kids would love it.

Luigi's is a great idea but too much work! It took us a while to figure out how to move and have fun. And no matter what we did I always felt like we were missing something or doing it wrong. I wanted to like it so much more than we did. We have tried three times and I think thats enough. I'd love to see them re-execute this in a better way (but I dont know what they could do). If they can't then our family would not be sad to see it go.
I do hope whatever goes in will be Luigi themed! And I agree with whoever said no height restrictions. I don't have small kids any more but if I did I know they would hate to miss a Cars Land ride!

On my last trip to Disneyland (which happened to be my first), I figured out sort of a trick to help move the car. On the vehicle, there are three bars in front of you. Lean toward the bar that is in the direction you want to move. So if you want to go left, lean toward the left bar, for straight, lean forward, and for right, lean toward the right bar. I was by myself and leaned until I could touch the bar. This worked well for me. I hope this helps someone out!

Yes!

If they could figure out a way to make it so leaning too far didn't cause you to crash into the floor and stop I think this ride would have more fans.

I found it incredibly easy to maneuver solo (well with my 4yo son), but even that was touchy, lean a bit too far and you hit the floor and lose all your movement.

Add us to the list that liked LFT. What more fun can you have bumping into total strangers without getting mad? Took us a while to figure it out our first ride but quickly learned how to maneuver the tire. Sad to see it go. Just hoping whatever they replace it with will be original to the park and not a MJJ copy.

I haven't been to CA Adventure since 2001. Is Luigi's a newer version of this ride?

I rode on this one.

Gah, my work blocks all links from the forums, what's the estimated date?

It's only a rumor.

In my post on the first page I quoted a timeframe for the possible change should they actually go forward with such a thing. That article was so hard to read with video and links to ads and such I pulled out what I felt was relevant and quoted it. Timeframe is towards the end of the second quote.

I got some info from the CM controlling the ride today! He said there are rumors and right now they are just that. The top brass is being very secretive. The CM told me he wasn't sure when I asked if he thought the rumors had any truth to them. But, the ride will be going down mid Dec for refurb for a couple of months.

The last time I was at CA everything was still under construction so last week was my first chance to ride everything in Cars Land. We had a blast on Luigis and rode it a number of times. We had no issues controlling the tires and thought it was easy. I would hate to see it go.

I would be happy to see this ride go. The ride does make me laugh, but mainly because of how ridiculously hard it is to maneuver the vehicles. And once you get into the gear of moving/flying, the ride is already over!
