After FINALLY buying into DVC last august we will be making our first DVC trip the end of the week and I am so excited I cannot stand it!! We are staying at a 2-bedroom at OKW so now we will have a kitchen. I have looked through an on-line food site (not sure if we can name them here) that has everything we need and we are ready to order. But we have questions...

How does the food get delivered to your room? Does the company do that? Do they get to your resort, find out which room you are in (since we won't know until we get there) and then put the things in - or does Disney store them somewhere until you arrive?

Any help you can give will be appreciated. We have been to Disney many times and I know how to do the "other" type of vacation but this is all new to us. And does bell services help you get your luggage to your room since OKW is so spread out?

TIA!

Jill

We are taking our 1st trip home in 2 1/2 weeks.

You have three options I know of:

1. DVC has grocery delivery, member site has a list of what you can order.

2. Gardengrocer.com Online order form

3. Wegoshop.com Pick you items, email her the list and they shop where you want them to shop.

We are using wegoshop, and I have been really impressed with Marge so far. I set up my delivery time, emailed my shopping list.

Info on fees and such are on the websites. Gardengrocer you pay ahead and they can leave it with Bell Services. They have a cold/freezer place to store your food. Bell Services will bring it up when you arrive. I am sure for wegoshop you can do the same think. I just scheduled our delivery after we arrive, so I will be there to receive it.

Hi,

We have used Gardengrocer at least 5 times now. Its SO nice not to have to take the time from my vacation...to go to the store (esp with 2 teen boys in tow...that eat ANYthing not nailed down) and search for things in a store I'm not familiar with. Its worth the delivery charge just to save myself time....aggravation..gas....leaving Disney property...etc just to have it delivered. :thumbsup2

We have had nothing but great results with Garden Grocer...they either bring your items to your room (if you are there) or they leave them with the bell hop/guest services area if you aren't. You can also add anything that is not listed on the comments area.

Have a very magical vacation!! :)

These grocery stores mentioned above do deliver (for a small fee) and you tell them what where you are staying and when. They have a system with Disney that if they deliver your groceries when you are not there, the resort will store the groceries: perishables in the fridge, frozens in the freezer, etc.

We've never had a problem with grocery deliveries except for once and it was because of a Disney CM leaving behind a few bags.

My vote is for gardengrocer. :thumbsup2 Order everything online. $12 delivery fee for orders under $200. Lots of items to choose from. Great customer service, too. Using them again next month. :)

So here's another food related question...

Have any of you heard of getting takout type stuff from the Golden Corral in tins that you can then reheat at your leisure? Saw this on another site but couldn't find any info.

Hey Jill!!

Nice to hear about your upcoming trip, you will love OKW!

We've used Garden Grocer, no problems, except when bell services didn't bring up all our groceries. I was unpacking and realized a lot was missing. So just kind of check when they bring it up that all your stuff is there.

Not sure if you rent a car but just another option that we've used in the past is we fax our grocery order to Albertsons on Orange Blossom Trail and then stop and pick it up on the way from the airport. They have it all set for you, you just go in and pay.

Also, bell services will help you with your luggage. Normally we stay near the HH but once we were waaay far away from the entrance. They will take you and all your stuff there (again, unless you have a car, then you can just drive up to your door).

Have an AWESOME trip, I'm sure you're like me, ready for some warm weather after this long winter!! :wave2:

ETA: Be sure and post when you get back, I would love to hear how you liked your first taste of DVC!!! (If you're like the rest of us, you'll be trying to figure how to add on more points, lol!)

Great question and great answers.....I am taking my first trip home in August with my 12 year old niece and 2 teenage nephews. I was looking into ordering from one of the stores also but was confused at the delivery....Happy to know that they will leave it at bell services because I was thinking I had to wait in the room for delivery. Thanks so much! :flower3:

We've used wegoshop on our two trips.

You set up a delivery time & send her a detailed list-- brands, when generic is OK, flavors, sizes. She asked us to call when we had our room number. There is a fee in addition to the cost of the groceries and we tip her also, for on-time delivery. We feel that it's SO worth it that we can just use Magical Express and not worry about stopping anywhere and not have to spend time wandering around an unfamiliar stores.

We also bring certain things with us. For example, rice, because we only need a few cups and we like our particular brand. Also Luna bars because I stock up when they're on sale and never pay full price.
