Could someone help me figure this out?

I'm so sorry for asking such a silly question, but we're relatively new members and I want to make sure I understand the process right so I don't loose any of my points....

I have a reservation for May '10 using my '09 (March use year) and '10 points. If I alter that reservation in anyway, cancel it, or move it to another time within '10 what happens to my '09 points that I used to make that reservation with? Did they automatically bank them prior to making my '10 reservation?

Thank you in advance! We're trying to decide to stick with May 21st thru the 30th, or go for Thanksgiving week. Any insight as to which is better crowdwise? We've never been during either weeks, but if Thanksgiving is anything like New Year's, we don't want to do it.

Only 2010 Use Year points would be bankable because March 2009 Use Year points cannot be banked again.

In order for your March 2009 UY points to be used in this May 2010 reservation they'd be banked into 2010 UY; 2010 UY is when May 2010 reservation will happen:
~ MS can use banked 2009 UY points (if any) + current 2010 UY points + borrowed ( if necessary ) 2011 UY points in a reservation that takes place from March 1 2010 through Feb 28 2011 .


March 2009 Use Year points are valid for stays from
March 1 2009 - Feb 28 2010 unless banked so
if MS is using these points for your May 2010 reservation then they have been banked into your 2010 Use Year - -
that is what would make them available for stays from
March 1 2010 - Feb 28 2011 so the very last night you could book a room using these banked March 2009 UY points would be Feb 28 2011 because they are not bankable again since points may only be banked once and points may be banked only into the next upcoming UY, so even if you wanted to you could not bank 2009 UY points into 2011 UY.

But you could bank March 2010 UY points into 2011 UY ( you'd have up until Oct 31 2010 to bank).....just be sure to verify with MS whether you keep May 2010 reservation or not that they are utilizing all banked 2009 UY points first & then taking from 2010 UY any additional points that may be needed to put together the points needed for the reservation. btw you will have until Oct 31 2009 to bank March 2009 UY points just in case they have not been banked as of yet.
