I want to say I can't believe I didn't do it, can't believe I didn't bank our points, but with the year I've had, yup, it's definately possible. :sad2: Two surgeries in less than a year, one that included rehab (which also includes LOTS of medical bills), and changes at work including furloughs, I just forgot.

So, now I'm stuck with 184 points that I have to use. 34 of them by December 31st.

Seeing as we hadn't planned on going this year because I was going to bank these points, we don't really have the fundage.

But, I can't just let these points go because that's like throwing money away too. :faint:

Now I'm trying to decide would it be best to try and take one big last minute trip to WDW on a shoestring budget but burn the points.

Or take a few "local" trips to Hilton Head before January 31st.

Everything in me wants to go to WDW! If I could even get a room at the Inn anywhere around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

The practical side of me says several trips to HHI.

I know that no one can tell me what to do, I guess I'm not really looking for that.

I just felt the need to share with people who understand how DVC works and who might just understand my dilemma period.

Anyway, thanks for listening.

You can call member services and see if they will make an exception, explain your circumstances. They will sometimes make a "one time exception".

Edited to say: Thank you, DebbieB!! Thank you for taking the time to suggest I call. I called ms and explained my situation. Because I've never asked to do this before, she said they could do a one time exception. So thank you so much for this advice. You've alleviated much stress and I can't thank you enough.

Why don't you rent the points and use the $$ towards your next trip? I was left with some banked points and am doing that now.

Glad to hear everything worked out for you, losing points would a sickening feeling.

I screwed up one year too... We ended up renting them and it had a happy ending!

Glad to hear they still have the "one time exemption", and glad to hear it worked for you!:thumbsup2

I was going to suggest this as well, glad Debbie got the info to you to allow you to get it completed today. This is the first time in a while I've seen the issue of the double secret one time exception come up, glad it's still a possibility.

I'm so glad I saw this thread b/c it reminded me to bank MY points! I only have 3 more days left before they're gone!!!!

Gee............I wish we had extra points to bank!!! Seems we're always in borrow mode...................

The same thing happened to me for the first time since we became members in 1994. I forgot to back 26 points, but I was waiting until the deadline to see if my waitlist for december came through. I had to use them by 1/13/10 also, so on our return home from our trip 12/27-1/01/10 at OKW we are spending New Years Night in a 2bedroom at HHI on the drive back to Boston.(its just the dh and I but that's all they had and we love HHI so we'll watch football and have appetizer dinner and relax after NYE at wdw! I thought it was a good use of our points!

I won't forget to bank again!

So glad it worked out for you ! And thanks for reminding all of us to bank !

I'm glad things worked out for you. Now that's one less thing you have to worry about. Hope the year ends better for you!

MS helped me out with a one-time exception as well a few months back. Only my exception was with points that I had already banked into the next UY. MS let me "unbank " the points and move them back into my current UY. I was one happy banana!
