Could i combine these reservations?

We currently own AK. Our plan is to purchase a smallish Poly contract soon and for next July 2020 we would book 2 studios for 4th of July ( not crazy about a summer trip but I was out voted).

Ideally this is what i would like to do. If I acquire a poly contract in time i would book at least 7/3 and 7/4 with poly points ahead of the 7 month window. At 7 months I would use my AK points to book the remainder of our stay.

Once each portion of our trip is booked (first part Poly points/second part AK points) could these reservations be combined or would they have to stay separate and considered a split stay because they are booked with different resorts. (thus the penalty of booking FP)

Or I am open to any ideas you have on how to handle the booking.

If at 7 mo you book poly with AK points, just MODIFY the poly reservation to add on there. At 7 months a point is a point, no longer home resort priority.
I would book AK for the days you want at 11 months, just to be sure you have a place to stay if the poly is full.

To answer your question - yes you can book it as two separate reservations and then call and have MS combine the two. @BillPA is also correct that you could add on to your reservation at 7 months as well. His point about getting a AK room as a backup is a good one, but you would have to cancel that reservation to free up the points to extend or book the Poly reservation.

I’ve done this before, and at the 7-month mark just revised the “dominant” reservation. If I don’t have enough points, instead of doing the second browser window thing and risking cancelling the other and having the room vanish, I’ll call MS and have them do it. There’s still technically a chance the second room will vanish, but I MS has a way of “holding” something while they’re re-booking.
