Could Hollywood Studios retheme to ONLY Star Wars or science fiction?

If the rides are good and the theming is good, there is zero chance of alienating anyone.

Is everyone in the world a HP fan? Of course not. But the attractions are so good, and have so much buzz, that people are going in droves.

It would be the same with SW land. Is everyone a SW fan? Of course not. But if it's awesome, people won't care. It's like that at any theme park.

I'm no fan of The Mummy, but that ride is fantastic and I hit it multiple times whenever we hit Universal Orlando.

Oh no doubt - my family would totally hit up "Star Wars Land" within DHS/"Hollywood Adventure" (much like HP is a portion of the US park). While the rabid SW fans would go out of their way to visit this land, we would see it as part of the experience within the park. An entire park devoted to SW would not have as much appeal to us and other non-SW fans. I don't think we disagree here.

I don't think we do, either. All I'm trying to say is that if it was AMAZING, I don't think people would skip it, even if they weren't that into Star Wars.

It'll never happen, but it wouldn't fail if the rides and theming were up to the standards of something like Harry Potter.

As a mother of three young kids of both genders, I fully support the idea that there are no "boy" toys/movies/things and "girl" toys/movies/things. But what I DO believe is true is that if Disney rebuilt HS centered around only one franchise/IP (Star Wars), it WILL alienate a significant portion of the WDW vacation-goers who have NO interest in that particular franchise (like us). Could my kids someday have an interest in SW? Maybe. But not right now. If that version of HS existed in any of our previous trips with the kids, we likely would not have gone to that park. So what's wrong with the idea of having HS filled with different "lands" - SW, Pixar, Disney Animation, etc.? Disney would be making a better business decision making this park universally appealing to all ages, genders, and interests. Hasn't that been one of the biggest struggles for this park in recent years - not enough family-friendly, little-kid-friendly attractions?

I actually agree with you. I don't think a park all about Star Wars would be smart (although I'd be in heaven). I just vehemently disagree that Star Wars (and sci fi in general) is oriented for boys and will argue that until my dying breath. :)

I think the majority of a Star Wars addition would be a "Phase II." Doesn't seem to have been enough time since they purchased the franchise to Imagineer it, do all the design work and plan drawings. My gut feeling is that this Phase will be mostly Pixar related since they have probably "dusted off" a lot of older plans.

With how long Disney & Lucas were working together, they probably have tons of ideas drawn up before the purchase much like how they had a whole Muppet land designed before the first purchase fell thru in the early 90's. Honestly I wouldn't be surprise if Marvel land is already designed and ready to go for when they get the rights back.
Plus there's also the "take a coaster and add a license to it" but Six Flags might have a patent on that design method. :lmao:

Star Wars Land just makes sense and would be HUGE, in terms of increased attendance and merchandising opportunities. Ditto Pixar Place, similar to what they've done at Disneyland Paris. Would love to see that. Or a Disney Junior area other than just Playhouse Disney. Would be great to have something dedicated to the toddler set.

I personally think RnR could be rethemed...Aerosmith, while I still love them, is probably not the best choice for lasting appeal. Maybe Tron to bring in something Disney? I don't know. Basically, I'd redo most everything that isn't Tower of Terror.

If they don't make the Honey I shrunk the Kids playground into an Ewok Village playground, they are missing the boat!
