Maybe this summer is going to be extra busy around the theme parks, just been reading this on Orlando sentinel, The Seminole County school system is going to a four-day week for students and employees this summer in hope of saving on energy costs
So they are having Fridays off but also, Classes resume Aug. 20, three weeks later this year because of a new state law restricting the opening of public schools in Florida to no earlier than two weeks before Labor Day

Orange and Osceola have a variation, allowing employees to work four long days instead of five regular shifts

Combined with free Dining I can see it being a busy summer in the parks.:sad2:

To be honest I just presume it is going to be busy any way and as long as everyone else enjoys a leisurely lie in, we should be all right.;)

we are already expecting it to be busy but Aug was the only time for us this year. As we have been 10 yrs in total we are going for the more leisurely holiday, more pool, hotel, shopping and the odd stroll around the parks thrown in.

This year has been busy anyway - but the free dining hasn't made it too busy in August/September the last couple of years, I don't expect it to be this year.

I'm not sure how the Seminole County situation will effect the parks - that will be interesting to see.

We have found getting in parks at opening and eating around 11am in August ok, but there was a lot of people last Aug/Sept on the boards saying how unbearable the crowds were. I was in the minority saying it was not bad. We are lucky having AP's if its starts getting too busy we just come out and do something else and go back another day at opening.
This year we are there 2nd to 27th so even if some schools dont go back until 20th August its still gives us a week with lower crowds, hopefully.

I think if you continue to get to the parks for opening times you will still be all right. From what I have found the vast majority of people do not like to be up early on their holidays and getting to the parks for opening hours. There will be naturally a slight increase in how busy it will be first thing if there are more people in the area but I still think the trend will be for the parks to be busy after 11 ish.

As long as we have done the rides in a park we are quite happy, then leave and go into another park later on. This year we are staying on site at the Royal Pacific so will be spending a lot more time at Universal/Islands in an afternoon and evening. Parks we didn't go to in an afternoon when we have been in July because the line levels were too long. You do get spoilt by walk ons and minimal lines when you arrive before the park opens so longer lines are not attractive and are not to be entertained.

Thanks for posting this info, Wayne. We're going in August this year (a time we'd normally avoid). I think you're right that this is likely to affect crowd patterns.
