I always felt that the correct phrase is "Couldn't care less" because you're stating that you care so little about whatever you're talking about, that you couldn't possibly care any less about it. Your thoughts?

One of my biggest pet peeves - it's definitely "couldn't care less". You don't care and there's no way you could possibly care less than you already do.

Couldn't care less.
Or how about frankly my dear I don't give a dam. :teeth:

couldn't care less...

;) ;) ;) ;)

Dh and I got in an argument the other night and he said I could care less, and I corrected him... LOL didn't help the argument much and I dont think he really got it.

Oh no you didn't say irregardless!!!
It's "couldn't care less." Most people say "could care less." It drives me nuts... almost as much as "irregardless!"

Oh, Doc...you have no tack...

Actually, mbb, the word you meant to use is "tact", not "tack".

tact - acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending

Sorry. I just couldn't help myself, since this is thread about words.

Of course, maybe you just said that as a joke. In that case, I'm just clueless and you all should carry on. ;)

Yup...a joke:)... those are the two words, irregardless and tack - along with the "care less" phrase that drive me nuts...

So..."irregardless of the fact that I have no tack, I could care less about ___________"

LOL!! GEM, and good for you for "correcting" me:)... I'm gonna take my saddle and head out to the horse barn...to the tack room...;) ;)
