Could care less or couldn't care less

I always felt that the correct phrase is "Couldn't care less" because you're stating that you care so little about whatever you're talking about, that you couldn't possibly care any less about it. Your thoughts?

tact - acute sensitivity to what is proper and appropriate in dealing with others, including the ability to speak or act without offending

Yup...a joke... those are the two words, irregardless and tack - along with the "care less" phrase that drive me nuts...

So..."irregardless of the fact that I have no tack, I could care less about ___________"
