With so many of you talking about your addiction to HHN, I'm beginning to think we're missing all the fun. I'm sure my DH & DS would probably enjoy it. Unfortunately, they'll be accompanied by a coward, me. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd be about a 12. I'm more into the princesses, cartoon characters, pumpkins, good witches, etc. for halloween. ;) Do you think I could enjoy it, or can't I handle that much fun?

uh, no

you might wet your pants if something jumped out at you.....

seriously, it can be loud, it can be startling.

when you walk in some areas, scareactors are hidden and can jump out or catch you off guard and your heart might flutter if you are the type of fear of the unknown.

you could stay out of the houses, they are dark and can be loud and have hidden surprises, but walking in some areas of the park might startle you.
some things happen without you realizing it could.

i think you should go.
you would have fun.
just hang on to your hubby and scream in his ear.

It really does depend. We went with family friends and one of them is afraid of everything. She can't even watch horror movies....but she didn't jump once while we were at HHN. I know I always get scared, but I enjoy it:rotfl:

You might be able to handle walking around and doing the rides and shows. The haunted houses might be too intense---but you could always try one and avoid the rest if it's too awful. It's always fun for everyone to find a place to sit and watch the scareactors scare other people.

I know you don't want to waste all that money if you won't be able to enjoy it. I would suggest maybe looking at HHN videos on youtube.com to see how bad it is.

i think tarheelmjfan would not go if she watched the youtube hhn videos...

i'm teasing her now as i know her.

homie, if you are not comfortable with crowds and loud noises, you might be uncomfortable with hhn.

but do like the other poster said and watch the youtube videos.
if you can't find them, i can link them to you.

"What's your breaking point" was a good HHN theme in the past.....

Don't forget the web site is still up from last year, it has a lot
of content about the event.
also the site horror nights.be has websites from previous hhns.

Are the haunted houses "claustrophobic," i.e. herding you into and through small, tight spaces, or is it more of a matter of just being dark, loud, and startling?

most of the time you are single file thru the houses.
the walkway is not large or wide.

don't know if you would consider that small and tight.

It depends on the house, some are darker ,harder to get around in and others
are lit up a little more. But always a hoot to get through!
last year at people under the stairs , ever so often a person would get a
hat with a light on it(had it twice) the light would come on and off at select
times. the 2nd time I had it , it just quit working at all, had to feel my way through one section with about 5 others behind me, it was so funny!
talk about the blind leading the blind. when the one with the hat goes the
wrong way.........:rotfl:

i wore the hat twice last year.

and in the third time i did PUT, i was at the end of that congo line.

that house wasn't my favorite. i tried it three times to figure out if it was me or the house....... i had the express pass and still had a 40 minute wait on a late saturday night.

You say that like it's unusual or something. ;) BTW, what are horror movies? I'm not familiar with that term. :rotfl:

Okay, now I'm 50% sure, I could or couldn't handle it. :rotfl2:

come with me when i go, i'll make sure you don't have a heart attack or wet your pants.

i'll go first to pave the way in the houses for you.
being the friend i am to you. i can do that.

but of course, you should make friends with the person behind you so you don't get scared from what could happen back there....

aw, come on and try it.
you know you want to.....:rolleyes1

Macraven suggested you should maybe see a little video we put together of last year's HHN
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18175986&postcount=1

if this year's HHN is like last years, the scare zones aren't scary. They were really spread out and not like I had seen in years past IMO

Last year we went with a friend of ours who works at Howl O Scream in Tampa. All of the houses that were "bad" houses were unbelievably fun because of her. She works at a haunted event and is TERRIFIED, it was hysterical. Its completely safe, nothing happens, its all pretend :thumbsup2

Look at the terrified look on Brandy's face (next to the clown)

Sorry, I've been MIA. Busy, Busy.......

That video was great! I'll show it to my DH & DS later. It didn't look quite as bad as I thought, but I'm still not sure I could handle it. If someone touched me, I'd lose it. :faint: I'll have to think about this. :rolleyes1

They dont really touch you.....against the rules, and it surrenders all kinds of reactionary hits. The only time I've been touched was in one of the houses where a friend of mine actually drug me through the boo-hole. Not something they were supposed to do.
