I have a terrible sense of direction.....are the markings & road signs easy to read on site? We are thinking of renting a car, but don't want to constantly be getting lost. For instance, does it say "Downtown Disney this way ->" & continue to have signs guilding you? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Everything on Disney property is signed really well. The roads are looping , so you are better off if you just follow the signs and not try and go by your sense of direction!

I also have to admit that the signage in the WDW area is very good. You should be just fine.

What I did before the first trip where I rented a car was look at the road maps in a Guidebook. There are 4 main roads - World Drive, Buena Vista Drive, Bonnet Creek Parkway and Vista Way. They form a large square that most other roads lead to. The signs are great too. I think I've rented a car on 5 or 6 trips now and I've learned not only the roads around WDW but the surrounding areas as well. We now make a trip to Walmart on 192 for groceries each trip and also to Belz Outlets by Universal. I feel like I've lived there all my life now!

Yes, you'll be able to drive around fine. I prefer to use Disney transportation most of the time, but I've never had a problem driving my own car. Just don't try to copy something you saw a bus do. They travel on rodes cars aren't allowed on and rodes that aren't even marked on the maps sometimes. Stick to the signs.

Now in the parks, I will admit I have problems sometimes. I wish the park maps were more clearly marked. They don't show all the paths, and sometimes I get confused. Especially when looking for a restroom.

My sense of direction is not great, but not that bad either. I did fine driving around the world without any problem. There's plenty of signs that will take you there. However, when we were leaving the world, it was a different story. We were driving around and around trying to get to find the freeway and we ended up at entrance of MGM!! LOL!

Like the song said...."you can check in anytime you like, but you can never leave!!"

You can get turned around, especially when entering and exiting I-4 out of Disney property. However, that's neither here nor there if you are directionally impaired -- get a compass and a decent map!!!!

Make sure you get a WDW transportation map (the one w/ the bus schedules on it), and also a good map of the Orlando metro area. (Usually, Orlando is divided into 2 maps, North and South; everything around WDW is on the South map, but unfortunately, the airport is usually on the North map!). Keep a compass with you and you will never get badly lost.
