Coughs and colds and the flu

Okay so Ive officially finished work now for the christmas period(apart from a meeting on Monday), and yep youve guessed it last night I started with a stuffed up nose and sore throat, last year I came down with the flu on Christmas Eve!!, DH seems to think its coz I've been under alot of stress just lately with work, But am i the only person this happens to, I love Christmas but this always seems to spoil it.
Any remedies(not lemsip or hot toddies!!!).

I'm with your DH on this one.

I too find that if a period of really hard work at work or stress suddenly comes to an end, then my body seems to shut down its defences and any passing germ takes hold very quickly.

Look on the bright side, at least its a few days away from Xmas itself. Hopefully you'll be better before then.

Our family have been suffering from sickness during the week too. It started with DS, then DD, then moi and now DW !

How's the interpreting going on ? Janet has just been through the Part II course, but pulled out just before the exams themselves. Reasons were mainly to do with the "role reversal" aspect of the exam.

Terry, thanks for that, yes BSl isnt exactly the easiest of languages to learn, sorry to hear Janet has pulled out, the role reversal thing is either something you find easy or hard, theres no inbetween, I guess im lucky in the respect my tutor is a very good friend of mine, so to me this role reversal is a natural thing that i really dont think too much of. The interpreting is going fine, its been hard work to get where i am, but tell janet it is worth it, get her to retake her stage 2 and progress to stage 3 then interpreting, the examiners arent as bad as the students make out, and at the end of the day if i can pass then that speaks for itself LOL!!!(practise and confidence thats all it is), if Janet wants to mail me I'll help in any way I can.
I signed the whole of the College Carol service on wednesday, and it was magical, things like that make all the bad times worthwhile.

I absolutely hate being sick! I've developed a hand washing fetish. Unfortunately, they are now dry and hurting, but I'm not sick.

DH gets a flu shot every year. He's in the Air Force and it's required. He's hardly ever sick. I just don't like needles/

...... the viruses are doing the rounds Jules. Both sons have had a sore throat, constant cough virus and I had a stomach virus last week.

I have a flu jab every year now ever since I was dangerously ill with flu when my son was 2 months old. I appreciate not every area will give flu jabs unless patients fall into one of the high risk categories but there is never a shortage of vaccines in this area and they are happy to give it to whoever would like it.
