Couch slipcover

We have a leather couch in our family room. The couch itself is in good condition however the 3 seat cushions are worn and one has a hole. I am not ready yet to purchase a new couch and am trying to find a budget way to make do.

Bed, Bath, & Beyond sells slipcovers. Do you think one would work on a leather couch? My husband thinks I'll constantly be readjusting it and it will drive me crazy. I wish I could sew then maybe I could just make fabric cushion covers and keep the rest of the leather uncovered. Can I buy cushion covers only somewhere?

Any ideas? We are hosting a large group of people for Thanksgiving and I am already stressing about how shabby our family room looks.

I think that your DH is right. I have fabric slipcovers on a fabric sofa. They never stay put and only look good if no one sits on the sofa/loveseat. :rotfl: I can't imagine how they would look on leather or vinyl!

How about flipping those cushions over? Do they have a "nice" side or are both sides worn/torn?

Unfortunately there is no "nice" side. One side is leather and the other some kind of black, heavy fabric. The cushions can only fit one way. I guess I will have to look into seat cushion covers and hope it looks okay with a leather back and arms. I am more than ready for a new couch but I have an inhome daycare and don't want to invest in something and then constantly have to yell at the little ones for not sitting on it the way I'd like, etc. This might be my last year of inhome daycare and then I'll buy a nice couch for our family. I just need to make due until then.

Find someone to make covers for you for each cushion. If you shop fabric stores, you should be able to find some type of fabric that will compliment the leather. Maybe another color of leather would work. OR-you could get slip covers-buy some of that anti-slip stuff and some pool noodles to tuck and hold everything in place.

Do any of you know where to buy arm-covers for a fabric sofa?

Ours in the basement has worn arms, but the rest of it is fine. Just need to find something that coordinates, even if it doesn't match perfectly. Any ideas? TIA

Can you try taking the cushions to a upholsterer? It's amazing how they can repair leather. My DD's leather arm cushions on her wheelchair were torn and they were repaired just fine by a local woman who does upholstering in her garage/shop. I've also seen advertisments for people who repair leather furnature and even coats.
