The one thing that disappointed me when I was at DL in December of last year was the disappearance of the cotton candy carts. The stuff pre-made in the bags is just not the same at all. Does anyone know why fresh CC stopped being spun and offered in the park or if it is maybe available in DCA? Thanks and from my sweet tooth, too :)

No fresh spun cotton candy. It has been YEARS since I've seen one of those.

Thanks, Malcon10t. I had not been to DL since Mid May of 2009 ( due to health issues) when they did have fresh CC. I admit to have been looking forward to it last December. Oh well, there is still tasty ice cream on Main Street :)

Where did you find it in 2009? I would have sworn I hadn't seen one since about 1997. Was it in the park or DTD?

I believe it was where it always was near Carnation Café. There may have also been a cart on Fantasyland but I honestly don't remember for sure. I do know I did eat pink CC while waiting for Peter Pan. I have only been to Downtown Disney briefly to the bigger Disney Store and don't think that area ever sold Cotton Candy. I have only been to DCA once and that was not for very long so have no clue if it was ever available there. In December the bagged CC was being sold near Pirates and also I think not far from Small World. They had all white and also purple and maybe blue mixed? I tried that and just wasn't very tasty and lol I know this is a very strange remark to make about spun sugar but it tasted to me as though it were missing sugar. :) Not too sweet at all. Keep in mind though I am a milk chocolate person, so the sweet stuff and that CC just wasn't it.

They had fresh candy cane cotton candy when we went for Christmas a couple years ago... I was mad though because it only looked like candy cane... I wish it had been peppermint flavored! But it was regular cotton candy flavor. It was only found over in big thunder area where they were doing cookie decorating and stuff.

Weird, because I usually get a bag of it (had pink until about a year ago, still can find if you looks) once a trip (about 6-10 trips a year) and don't remember the fresh in the last 10+ years. They did have a machine for a while in DTD where they made various flavors. It isn't there any longer. I know at Christmas they had a white and blue cotton candy at CHristmas, and it wasn't very good. It was supposed to be peppermint flavored. They also had red and green that was apple flavored. It was a little better.

Aw, I'm sorry Mommy2princessAbby. Sounds like there could have been both regular and peppermint flavored. That may have also increased sales.

Malcon10t, lol, I promise it was really there. Maybe a question for a CM or in a chat? If I do go next week I'll try and ask someone at the park. To me and maybe I am old fashioned cotton candy=light pink and tastes like sweet cotton candy. I wouldn't have been into the flavors. Red and Green colored for Christmas but still same taste maybe :)

I was thinking they temporarily closed down the carts in December because of how busy it was and cotton candy is something that needs more attention to it than even a popcorn cart. From a couple vendors I had asked it sounded like it had indeed been gone for quite a while.

They told me it was called candy cane because it was white and pink striped... I told them it was misleading :( it was still good, just one of those disconnect things... Your brain thinks it should taste one way and it doesn't!

I just chatted online with a CM named Autumn. She told me the cotton candy is made fresh backstage because it saves time. I did mention that there were others who also missed the fresh spun carts and she said she would pass that along. At the moment no plans to bring them back. :( Mommy2PrincesAbby, I agree with you!

I know this is totally off topic but I also did ask about this years CP. No news yet but Autumn said she would also let whoever know of my request for that to be extended over more nights as well. We shall see :)
