Ok, now that we've decided to go during our Sept. vacation, I'm trying to figure out costumes. I'm also trying to keep our packing limit in mind. There are only four of us that are ticketed, so we can only take four bags (trust me, they'll be as big as I can get them within the limit, but still..). Anyone have ideas for costumes that will pack into a relatively small amount of space AND won't be so hot in the Sept. Orlando weather? I figure, what's the point of keeping the kiddos out late only to have them melt in the heat??? :confused3 The other thing is - I'd love for them to have Disney costumes, but after paying $200 to get them into the event, I'd rather not spend an arm and a leg more for them to dress for it!

DD (7) likes princesses and faries, but other girly things, too - not quite into HSM or Hannah Montana (thank goodness!). DS (4) loves Cars and Toy Story, just played soccer and loved it, and also likes to pretend to box (thanks to our Wii). DS (5 mo.) - something not too hot!! Everything I've found is thick and wooly! DH has decided this is his excuse to go buy Jedi robes, or that we ought to go as the Incredibles family (again, too hot in my opinion). I haven't even started to think about me yet - hadn't really planned on dressing up, but have been informed that I HAVE to. Anyone with ideas, or a suggestion that's worked for you, I'd appreciate it - I'm at a loss.

well - Walmart is a nice alternative for DD - they have a decent amt of tink & the other fairies. My DD4 has a couple of the princess dresses from walmart - I like the way they look - I don't get upset if something rips (she plays hard) because they were around $20 as opposed to $50 or more, DD3 wants to be minnie again - short skirt in sept weather - i'm good with that. DD4 wants to be peter pan this year- not sure if I am making this or if we are buying it. DD9months will probably be tink - left over costume from when DD3 went the first time - again short skirt , light material = not as hot.

DD's wore dresses 2 whole days and the night of MNSSHP ( they each brought 2. I will probably let them do the same - 2 outfits each.

We are going in Sept too and planning on it being hot. I am thinking about the PJ pals at The Disney Store, and then finding a thematically matching accessory like a hat or ears, etc. They also have "fancy" nightgowns at TDS and I am considering using one of those as a princess gown....it is very light and not a bit scratchy. So I guess I am on a pajama kick right now!! I am also thinking about white t's w/black spots and some collars and going as dalmations. Hope to see some more ideas!

The first year we went to MNSSHP with DD she was not quite 2. We put her in an OU cheerleader outfit...put an OU tattoo on her cheek....put hair up in piggies with ribbons. Then we made our T-shirts that said something like "Our Little All-Star" on the front with her picture and on the back we had "Sammi's Mom" and "Sammi's Dad" We were in costume but not dying of heat exhaustion. Now I'm trying to figure out this years costumes - UGH. Keep the ideas coming :rotfl:

Yeah bump....keep the ideas coming. I thought I knew what DD and I were going to do, but I keep second guessing myself :)

I like the pajama idea! I have been throwing around ideas for what to do for my son's costume. He really wants to be a Jedi knight but I'm not to sure how hot the costume would be in September. Not to sure if he would be willing to wear pajamas into the park (he is 8).:confused3

Here's the link to an older thread with a bunch of ideas. One on there that I found cute that probably could work for you is to all dress up as stereotypical tourists. That way you could just wear a t-shirt with pins, a fanny pack, etc, and the kids could dress up as a character (say, your DD could be a princess with pins and a really obnoxious hat).

We are going in Sept. too! First off what night are you doing the Halloween party? We are doing it the 9th I think.

My dd (4) is insisting on being Snow White, which I'm fine with, I'm sure my Mom will be buying her a gently used costume off ebay. My Mom and Step-Dad are going with us this trip, and they are refusing to dress up. :confused3

I am going as a mail woman. I know that may not be that creative, but I already have the outfits since that's what I do for a living, and I know they are cool, haha. At least I have shorts and a light cotton shirt.

Could your dd be a baby sumo wrestler? That way she would be cool.

Erin 13178: We're going on the fifth - we leave the ninth! You're from Indiana, too - cool!

Right now, we're leaning towards making all of us Incredibles Tshirts. Then we'd wear black shorts and masks. What do you think? I also thought that maybe I could mail them to us at the resort...

Not sure about the grown ups yet, but DD 6 wants to be Giselle from Enchanted and DD 3 is going to be Annie from Little Einsteins. I know that my little one will be totally adorable and quite comfy. I'm having a friend make my older DD's Giselle "curtain" dress. We're aiming for something light and flowy so she won't be too hot.
