My friends and I are going on a Halloween Disney Crusie in October. I'm trying to plan my costume and have an idea but wondered about something. I was going to zombify a Disney character, i wasn't planning on doing anything too gory because I know kids will be around but is zombie makeup okay to do? What would be acceptable?

Nothing too gory. I think somewhere on their website they have restrictions listed

The adult costume contest/party is fun!!!

The only thing I've read is no weapons pretty much, which I wouldn't have one. I'm wondering if a little blood is okay or skip it and just have tattered clothes, messy hair, ect

From the mom of a sensitive kiddo, PLEASE don't do any blood. If there are any kids like mine around, they'll never want to come out of their room again!

and it's not like Disney hasn't done a "Zombie Mickey" cartoon (they have) - and frankly all of the new Mickey and friends cartoon shorts look like they are zombies to me - distorted and missing pieces. I guess that I am just old and don't appreciate the "new look" stuff.

I definitely would steer away from blood. They definitely have non-bloody/scary zombie make-up that might be more appropriate for this environment (some of it actually is quite pretty) :-)

I agree. A Disney character outfit is a costume. Why try to make it more costume-y by zombie-fying it?

Which Disney character?

That makes (at least) two of us !

I also think that the blood is a bit much. Many people that I've spoken to (I've never been to any DISNEY Halloween event) say that they like the safe & non-gory/ghastly look of people's costumes at DISNEY Halloween events.

I seem to always see people with some gore/blood. I think you'll be fine if you keep in mind there are little kids who may think you are a real zombie. It's pretty normal to see dracula/vampires with blood oozing from their mouths. I don't think a little zombie blood would be too unusual.

I was on a Disney Halloween cruise a few years ago, and someone dressed up as Walter White, complete with a bag of (simulated) blue crystal meth. He either won or at least tied for first place during the costume contest, based on audience reaction. But somehow, another guest with a more family-friendly costume was deemed the winner by the judges.

Today, the only addition to the Walter White costume would be to "Show Some Sheep" and WW turns into Bellwether's "chemist" from Zootopia

Seems like I saw nightmare before Christmas costumes on our last Halloween cruise.

Which Disney character?

My question, too!

I don't Have an issue with "zombie" as a costume even with a little blood, but I (and probably other guests) would not appreciate a zombie Mickey or bloody-gory Pluto or other highly popular character with a happy personality. Maybe a zombie pirate or something. But please don't mess with the typical characters.

Enjoy your cruise!

I remember many years ago when my sister and I went to MNSSHP - there was a girl who was...it wasn't really Zombie Cinderella as zombies weren't that big, but definitely like a Cinderella ghost. The blue dress, the hairstyle...and a nice bloody line across her neck along with "death" make-up. She and her boyfriend were quietly pulled aside as they entered (I forget what he was...probably Dead Charming or something) and apparently told that they could either wash the make-up off or leave as when we saw them later the make-up and bloody line across the neck were gone.

So if the cast/crew members feel something is over the top (or I guess in theory if enough people complain to them), they can and will ask you to change it.

Wow, that's kinda cool. I like keeping the Disney characters true to how they were designed.
