We are doing the "Mickey's not so scarey" Halloween Party the last night we're in Disney next month...any ideas for unique costumes? :earseek:

When we were there, there were hardly any people in costumes and just a few kids. Very sad. DS (4 at the time) and his cousin 4 had Bert and Mary Poppins costumes that were beyond belief. Didn't see much fussing from the cm's like I thought. One actually said, "look at the turn of the century kids". ACK. Do you know how hard it is to find the red, orange and white striped material for Bert? The right lace for Mary?

Anyhoo. I saw a cute set of boys. One dressed as Mickey, one as young Walt with a sketch pad. We loved it so much we took a picture of them. Nobody fussed over their cute costumes either.

How many are in your party? Children?

Last year, we saw some families dressed. My DH was captain hook, I was peter pan, and our DD was Tinkerbell.

Saw many princesses, some non-disney which was really cool.

We are waiting for word for DD4 what she wants to be. We are planning on her going to Bippity Boppity Boutique for her costume the day of the party, and we will dress accordingly.

Check the Disney site for costumes, and just think "theme". The best ones in my opinion are a bit more obscure, but anything makes the more the merrier.

LOTS of pirates last year. Not that I minded...

Have fun!

A long time ago when I was younger me and my family have the joy of the surname Adams so we went as the Addams family! It helped that there was already 4 of us, ma, pa, bro and me! That would be good. Since then other MNSSHP's I've been to I saw a family go as the incredibles...That was pretty cool.

C :thumbsup2

I, too, am trying to figure out what our family should do, however, we're not going until next year, so I do have some time! I know I want costumes that aren't too hot since we'll be going in Sept. I originally thought my DH, DS5, DS6 and I could go as chefs from the movie Ratatouille. They sell really cute childrens apron/hat chef outfits in the Disney store with Remy and Emilie on them. My husband and I would have each just worn a white chef's hat/apron, with Gusteau's (or Ratatouille--wasn't sure which restaurant we would have done) written on the front of the apron and a stuffed Remy beanie sitting on our hats! Just when I had our Ratatouille outfits all planned, my kids have now developed a love affair with Mickey's Three Musketeers. So, the Ratatouille chef idea has been scrapped; the boys and their dad will be the 3 Musketeers and mommy will be a princess. Works for me! Good luck to you!

Hi We are so undecided about what to wear. I want my DH to be a pirate of any sort but he's not falling for it!! My DD7 is going to be Ariel. My DD10 is tossed up between, Kim Possible or Sharpie(HSM). I want to be Belle but I want to be Belle in her working dress ( much cooler) and DSIL is going to be a pirate, and other DSIL is going to be a cowgirl. Quite the gang and mixed up characters. I originally wanted us to go as one common group, but since my DD7 won't give up Ariel....I gave in!
Good luck

We are a large group (grand gathering) going down for MNSSHP in October. We have been trying to come up with a disney themed costume for all 13 people and have had no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

We were even thinking maybe we could just do something for the adult (6 of us).

Any one who has any ideas and would like to share that would be great. Thanks.

Your group could go as dalmations--there are 101 of them doncha know?

Actually could be very easy--white t-shirts/shorts or pants/socks etc. with black spots. paw:

We're going in Sept and I am still considering the possibilities. My 2 DN (9 & 10) like Pocahontas, but have not decided yet. I would like to do something as a group, but getting a majority vote will be difficult I think. :sad2:  Unfortunately I am not very creative and the budget is turning out to be tighter than I had hoped so if anyone has more ideas I'd be glad to hear them. :goodvibes

I have one idea for me--DW 39. I love love love pooh: so I was thinking of just wearing a black t-shirt and carrying a red balloon. The t-shirt would say "Tut-Tut" on one side (back?) and "Why, I'm a little black raincloud of course" on the other side (front?) Quotes from WTP and the Honey Tree.

Any thoughts? :confused3

we definitely thought about the dalamation thing but the husbands were not so keen on the idea. The woman gave it their best shot but could not convince them.

hehe...

I vote for "Super Heros" for the large group. You get really creative with this one.

I love the theme idea for families...very sweet!

Of course these are all Disney Themed...

Some Ideas that take a little bit of planning & creativity: The Seven Dwarfs.... The Doodlebops.... Johnny & the Sprites... The Tools from Manny.... Cards from Alice in wonderland....

Easy Ideas: The higglytown heros.... The Little Einsteins.... JoJo (the clown) and all other circus perfomers... High School Musical cheerleaders.... Fairies... mousketeers....The Three Caballeros .... Ghosts from HM.... Christmas elves...

Those are just a few ideas from the top of my head... hope it gave you some ideas.... Im sure I can think of alot more....

That is a great idea for a large group! :thumbsup2 Or maybe a small group of 4 undecideds...hmm.

Thanks for the ideas--they're great! I wish I was creative...sigh.

How would you do the HM ghosts so that they would be 'ride and heat friendly'? My husband loves HM and POTC, but pirates are a bit over done this year I think. popcorn:: For me anyway. Although, if I was a skinny person I would do Pirate Tink. (My DH has a 'crush' on Tink and he thinks I don't know. :rotfl:)

Thank you for the ideas and I would be very happy to hear any other suggestions you have. :goodvibes

Please let us know what you decide to do. Maybe post pix? I think it would be so fun to go as a big group. :goodvibes

Jrabbit's idea of Christmas elves is cute. Two adults could be :santa: and Mrs. Claus and the other adults could be Frosty, Rudolph, etc, with the kids being elves. Or all the adults could be :santa: and his Mrs, with the kids still being elves. That way if families split up, you would still have a 'matched set.'

I hope you have a great time! :woohoo:

Hi Michelle, Boy do I wish you lived closer...(or I wish I was going to be there when you are) I would help you make a ton of stuff! :) I love halloween... I think the Pirate Tink is such a great idea... u can totally do it...
As for the Ghosts.. some simple ideas: The Hichhiker ghost guy that wears the hat.. (top hat & put holes all over it) all he has is a long black raincoat type of outfit on (you can look for a Poncho).. The face makeup would be were you can dress up the "dead" look.. U can be one of the chamber maids that can hold an urn and make it like a pocketbook... Or another idea for the ghost guys would be a skeleton face (BLACK Undereyes,Lips white face), some torn up clothes, throw powder all over something black to make it look really dusty...
There is also the option of Jack & Sally... they are always fun too! :)

Hi, my son is going as Harry Potter, his hero (he's been Harry for Halloween since he was four) and he's talked me into going as either Tonks or Bellatrix. His twin is going as either a pirate or Neville from HP. Normally you couldn't get a costume on me under threat of death but I did it for the book release party and it was pretty fun, plus I think DW is the perfect opportunity to dress up and have some fun. Have a great time.

...cause I need help! And lots of it! And not just for MNSSHP! :rotfl:

We haven't done anything Halloween for years. About 17 years ago I bought a ghost outfit--very cute--for $45 at Penneys. I remember thinking how expensive it was and that I was going to get my money's worth--I have worn that ever since whenever a costume is required. Everyone knows who the ghost is... :rotfl: It isn't very ride friendly though, so wouldn't work for WDW.

I only have 35 days :woohoo: , so hurry up and move so we can work on some costumes!

Love the Handy Manny tools idea!

Unfortunatley, my DD4 wants to be Ariel. I think that's going to make me Ursula. My choice, since I will be almost 7 months pregnant by then, a big black stapless dress should do nicely.

I'm going to try to get DH to be king Tritan. Anyone know where to get those t shirts that have a hot bod screened on them? I was thinking that would make him an awesome top!:rotfl:

My parents are thinking of either Flounder, prince eric, or sebastion, but I see some ride difficulties with the sea life...
Any already made costumes out there for adults? DD4 will be Bippity Boppity Boutiqued, so she's the easiest!:cloud9:

We are going Oct 8 and I can't decide for us as well. My DH is not really thrilled at all about dressing up so I doubt he will. My youngest DD 7 wants to go as Sharpay (HSM) and my oldest DD 11 wants to go as a cop...she wants her younger sis to dress up as the "accused" but DD 7 isn't falling for it! We went a couple of years ago and oldest DD dressed up as Emeril Lagasse... she wore a chef's hat, apron, and had an Emeril t-shirt and a bottle of baby bam to complete the look. She got several compliments from CM's. One CM even yelled "Bam!" as he threw candy in her bag! :rotfl:
