I am planning a mega surprise trip for my DD and I for her birthday. I called Costco Travel before I booked the reservations and was told that when I made them, to call, give them the confirmation # and have the documents sent to the hotel instead our home. This works out better for us as using another address isn't possible because of having to sign for them. So, I booked our trip late Sunday night and went to bed.

Yesterday morning, I called and I think I had someone new. I told her what I wanted and she looked up things, confirmed things and then asked, "What address do you want the package sent to?" I again said that I wanted them sent to the hotel. She tried to do it and told me she would email me a confirmation that this was done.

I checked tonight and it is just a repeat of what I have so I called. The person I spoke with tonight was more than helpful. She looked and said that it was done because a Supervisor had to do it. She then made this comment that leads to my very important question: "I don't know if you will be able to keep the surprise because you are sent out a Welcome/Congratulations type package." Apparently it is triggered when you make your reservations and is mailed out by a different department.

So my questions are: 1. Does it come in an envelope from Costco Travel? or Disney Travel? Is it even in an envelope? 2. Would it be addressed to only me or would it be addressed to "The 2tinkerbell Family?" 3. Does it have any trip information on the outside that would be easily identifiable that I've scheduled a trip to Disneyland?

TIA Obviously I've not done this before and I thought I had my bases covered.

If I remember right (and it's been a couple of years and its a little fuzzy and might have changed since then), it's a small box and it's delivered by UPS or Fed Ex about 2-3 weeks before your trip. I was able to intercept it before my kids they year we did it as a surprise. Seems like it was a plain brown box too, but it had the WDTC printed as the return address on it.

Tickets, character dining vouchers, there used to be another WDTC book that had some vouchers in it but I think they discontinued those (preferred seating for Aladdin and such) all in a handy little folder/envelope. The box also included lanyards with a pin and luggage tags for everyone in your group.

Last time I booked through Costco was for a November 2012 trip so I don't know how much has changed.

I remember a small box that isn't overtly Disney. You have to sign for it.

The "box" containing our tickets, lanyard, vouchers, etc. is being sent to the hotel and not our house. The question was regarding the "Welcome" letter and brochure/booklet that they also send out when you register. Apparently it is triggered by the registration and is mailed through another department.

I have a problem in that I work all day and DD gets home from work before I do and gets the mail. Had I known that they send out a "Welcome" brochure/booklet I would have registered using my sister's address and still had the hotel delivery.

Thanks for all the information. I decided to not take my chances on the "welcome" brochure/booklet coming to the house and I am having our mail held at the Post Office for a week. No way do I want this surprise ruined.

I don't remember receiving that at all so it might be new. We do periodically get mailings from Disney anyway so would your daughter just think it might be one of those?

You don't get the lanyards you get a voucher for the lanyards and pick them up somewhere in the parks. That is what my voucher says anyway when I got my documents last week. I just can't remember where it says to pick them up at.

Did you get an initial mailing when you made your reservations and paid your deposit? The person I talked to at Costco Travel told me I would be receiving this initial mailing and that my "package" would be waiting for me at the hotel when we checked in - as that is how I want it. The biggest concern is my initial mailing.

Thanks for the help. I think I have just solved all my worries by having our mail held for a week. And to answer another question, yes, we do get mail from Disney a lot and yes, my DD reads absolutely everything that isn't specifically addressed to me. Even then, she will hand me something and say, "Oh looks like a birthday card from XXX" If something is addressed to the "2tinkerbell Family" it is opened and read before I get home.
